I think the jury is still out on the whole divisions thing. On the one hand, it allows you to maintain some natural rivals, but it also limits your flexibility for TV purposes. I was actually surprised the ACC wanted to go to an 18 game schedule. It gives you a lot less opportunity to play quality nonconference games. That’s why I think even if the league adds two more teams it will probably not add any more conference games.
