JT: What are your memories of the 1973 NCAA Tournament (you were down by 18 with 10 minutes to go against Syracuse, and fought all the way back before losing by one)?

JW: That was a great game: we actually had the lead late. Syracuse pressed us and one of our players was called for traveling, but today the refs let that call go all the time. Syracuse went on to the Final Four, so they were a good team. (That would be 1975)

UConn at Syracuse on February 11th. 'Cuse is on its way out [of the Big East]. Both teams are expected to be inside the Top 10 nationally, and the Huskies and Orange always serve up a great treat. They'll be jockeying for a top-standing in the Big East, and the Dome will be rocking. It's already circled on my calendar.

In the Big East, I'm pretty excited to see UConn and Syracuse go at it. Both are expected to be great teams this year and those two games could have a big effect on the conference title. It will also be interesting to see how UConn fans react to having Syracuse, a team on its way out the conference door, in their house.

ACC Basketball Preview: This league is down, needs Pittsburgh and Syracuse

...interestingly, from some friends and admins at UMiami, bball is one of several reasons 'Cuse and Pitt were asked in...to help shore up bball rather than bring ACC football to new heights. It would have been Uconn instead of Pitt but BC did their thing to keep them out...this round at least

A friend of mine and I were at that 1973 Game at the Palestra. (What a dump) even then. I remember Mike Lee having a Great Game and a name which stick's to me even to this day "Moose Fesser Leonard" their frontline was huge but Lee and Wadach outhustled and out fought the Palladins. and yes the FF year was 75. Another close to perfect 1st half/then sweat out the 2nd. Mike Lee is underappreciated today IMO
