people walk. But so do hearts - Coyle’s belongs in the west ours do not. Now that we have gotten the bad stuff and paranoia out – how about talking about the new AD? This assumes we do not stay with an interim person in house. Does anyone here know who may be looking for a position with us or who is really good and would be good at SU? I think we are going to need someone from NY although not necessarily a prerequisite. It would be smart if the candidate knows what we expect of him. This job needs a salary that is commensurate with its difficulty – pay the man. I've read all the Syracuse.com articles and decided to move on to future development. I’ll start: Nick Carparelli: SU Grad Asst. Dir. FB Ops SU FB Administrator N.D. Dir. Of Ops N.E. Patriots Senior Assoc. Commissioner BIG EAST “ “ “ AAC Senior Director College Sports Under Armour “A must for a new hire: Being resourceful is one of the best qualities a person can possess. As much as we strategize and plan, things rarely go as expected. I like people who can solve a problem without necessarily having all of the resources that they need. No one has all the answers all the time, so being resourceful will always serve you well.” Chris Gedney: Senior Associate Athletics Director Syracuse University / Major Gifts Joe Manhertz: Joe Manhertz joined the Duke Athletic Department in September 2010 and serves as Executive Director of Iron Dukes Major Gifts. In his current position, Manhertz is responsible for planning and directing the comprehensive campaign for athletics that will encompass facility upgrades, scholarships and endowments along with planned giving. Manhertz came to Durham after working the previous 3 years as the Director of Development at The Ohio State University. He also held development posts at Syracuse University and Hamilton College. A 1996 graduate of Colgate University where he played both basketball and football, Manhertz also earned a master's degree in Sport management in 1998 from The Ohio State University. Manhertz is a member of the inaugural class of the NCAA leadership institute and a NAADD conference representative. He has served on the board of It's about Childhood and Family Inc. and was an adjunct professor at SUNY Cortland for Sport Marketing and Sport Sponsorship. Martin Jarmond: Ohio State Executive Associate AD Martin Jarmond was appointed as Executive Associate AD, Administration in November, 2012. In his role, Jarmond has day to day oversight responsibilities in internal and external operations and business advancement of the athletics department. Jarmond is the sport administrator for Football, Men's Basketball, Baseball, Men's Golf, Women's Golf, Pistol, Rifle and Spirit Squads. He is also responsible for football scheduling. Jarmond also represents the athletics department as a member of the Senior Management Council, the university leadership group that provides counsel to the President's Council. Nationally, Jarmond serves on the inaugural College Football Playoff advisory committee, the NCAA Division 1 Women's Golf Championship committee and is a member of the McLendon post graduate scholarship committee. Jarmond joined The Ohio State University in 2009 as the Associate Athletic Director for Development. His duties included oversight of the Buckeye Club, major gifts, stewardship and donor relations, gift processing and community relations. In this role, Jarmond led the athletics development team during the $2.5B "But For Ohio State..." campaign, raising over $120M in a three year span.
