are for losers...

I've seen a lot of posts about keeping it close, just staying healthy, and taking the moral victory. Moral victories are the way losers accept defeat! I'm not saying we're going to win, but we need to start believing that this team has a chance to beat anyone on any given Saturday. We've seen the evidence, Virginia Tech, Clemson, 4-0 start. It's time to start believing in this team. I have a feeling this year is going to be special. Let's go Orange!

What difference does it make if we believe they can win or not?
A fan base who believes that their team can win on any week out, tends to fill a stadium. Fan enthusiasm is contagious. (But I understand your point.)

I want my team to believe they can win every game. I hope we can win all our games.

I don’t believe we will. But I’m amped anyways.

We beat Clemson last year. We know we can beat them.
I don’t expect to win this game but I know we can win it. Even if we have a 1 in 10 chance it won’t be as big an upset as Old dominion beating Va. Tech.
Clemson is one of the 4 best teams in the country but we are pretty good this year.

There are several levels of how to win or lose a game like this, and what those will mean now, and moving forward:

1 - win convincingly, no major injuries. You know, like last year. ;)
2 - win in a miraculous/fluky manner. We'll take it!
3 - close loss, no major injuries. I'd happily settle for this if you gave it to me right now.
Regroup and beat Pitt, keep the bowl train rolling full steam.

4 - close loss, but 1 or more major injuries. No bueno. That's too expensive for a "moral victory".
5 - blowout loss, no injuries. Meh - it's what Vegas thinks is gonna happen, and it's still only counts as one L.
Live to fight another day! I think this is a much better scenario than #4, regardless of ensuing fan/public reactions.
6 - blowout loss, 1 or more major injuries. Worst case scenario.
Ugh, please no.

I'd be thrilled with #1-3, and settle for #5.
Really fearful of #4 & #6.
We need to stay healthy, the rest of the season is far more important than this one game.

I think there is a big difference between a moral victory if you are a top-15 team with sustained success looking for a CFP berth versus a team hoping to rebuild a program to be top-25 caliber once again.

I was wondering the same thing. People get carried away with this stuff. Another dork move, is to tell people not to "look ahead". "Let's just focus on this weeks game!"
This Just In: We Do Not Actually Play Football. Our thoughts have absolutely zero effect on wins and losses.

To objectively analyze the likelihood of winning against teams on our schedule aren't being losers or accepting defeat. I'm not on the team. I personally will never be the type of fan that blindly thinks things things are rosy when they are not. I like to analyze what we're doing well but also understand our shortcomings and point out where improvements need to be made. I always hope we will win and sometimes I'm wrong in my conclusions but I won't ever blindly say I trust the coaches when I see flaws .

"Moral victories are for losers"

Isn't that what we've been for the better part of 17 years?

When we've reestablished ourselves as a winning program, I'll start feeling bad about losing to a top 5 team. Right now, holding our own against them and losing will be mildly disappointing but far from devastating. Ultimately, what happens the next few weeks following this game are more important than what happens this week.
