The most irreconcilable part of cases like this one is the fact that the NCAA states over and over again that it wants athletes to be subject to the same treatment and benefits as normal students. Yet, the NCAA goes out of its way over and over again to disadvantage athletes relative to normal students with the organization's overreaching bureaucratic nonsense.
The NCAA says it can't punish UNC because the violations were all on the academic side and all students could take the bogus classes. This man would be admitted to many universities on academic merit alone, subject to the same admissions requirements as other students, so why is the NCAA able to decide the academic component in this case but not able to touch the UNC case?
