He reminds me of guys New England had like Edelman and Amendola. Not a no.1 receiver, but a guy with good hands that can make plays, He's fast too.I hope not. And this probably won't be a popular take, but if he is our first target, we're probably deeper in trouble than we even thought. Not to disparage a kid, as I really like Pena, but he should not be our featured receiver.
What have you seen from him as a receiver that makes you think that? He seems like a great slot guy ala Erv Phillips.I hope not. I was really impressed with his focus to catch that ball in the seam, take a hit, spin around and keep his balance and run it in for a TD. I think returning punts helps with your focus to catch the ball, because if you drop a punt, your going to catch hell for it. Too many drops by the receivers yesterday. What have you seen from him as a receiver that makes you think that? He seems like a great slot guy ala Erv Phillips.
He at least runs all out to catch the ball, unlike the other receivers who quit on routes.I hope not. His running after the catch and being a punt returner did make me wonder if he’s a guy who could do some damage on the occasional WR reverse, or even those quick screens we used to run back when we used to go fast.I was really impressed with his focus to catch that ball in the seam, take a hit spin around and keep his balance and run it in for a TD. I can see when he returns punts that he has good vision and awareness and is often mad when he gets tackled because he can see daylight just past that last guy. Tough to bust big returns against Acc special teams as there are a lot of great athletes on those coverage squads. Out of the slot or in motion gives him a easier go to get loose, IMO.His running after the catch and being a punt returner did make me wonder if he’s a guy who could do some damage on the occasional WR reverse, or even those quick screens we used to run back when we used to go fast.
We need some kind of spark from a skill player besides Tucker.
Is Gadsden hurt?I can see when he returns punts that he has good vision and awareness and is often mad when he gets tackled because he can see daylight just past that last guy. He hasn't got any targets lately, he could be hurt.Is Gadsden hurt?
It seemed like he was being brought along for significant playing time.
I would rather see him getting some snaps in the back field to rather than Lutz if Adams is still hurt.

In his limited playing time in the slot, he has not looked really comfortable. Might be better suited to playing outside. That said, a lot of young WRs look uncomfortable early in their careers and end up being fine players. Courtney Jackson struggled quite a bit last year as a frosh and this year has emerged as our best WR.He’s also showed stone hands when he was responsible for a pick six against Albany.
Stone hands? You mean on the 200 mph dump off pass from Devito? He’s lucky his hands aren’t broken. He’s also showed stone hands when he was responsible for a pick six against Albany.
Mang and Benson need to be used more Play Alford, Benson as a WR, Jackson, Mang, and Elmore. That way you have 3 big targets, 3 guys who can block.I don’t care who it is.
I hope to see more crossing routes off of okay action and roll outs.
I’d like to see Benson used to to stretch the field and freeze the safeties. If he can get down the field on punt coverage then he should be able to run seam routes, snobby post and corners.
Linebackers will have a hard time spying on Shrader (like Clemson appeared to do) and covering those crossing routes.
I hope the offense can continue to develop.
