Im not sure if Devante is playing, but I think its time we see a little bit more of these guys. Let them try to get in a rhythm and give em the fair share of the carries. If I remember correctly, both looked quick and powerful against fsu last year as freshman

Agreed, I was big on GM last year and this year. Not sure I'm understanding how the backs are being used...but what do I know.

Even Floyd Little said they may be some of the best backs to come here in some time. Just don't understand how they aren't playing. I have seen all of them run and them two are best by far. Fast and agile. U will see next year when they get most of the carries. People who say backs don't need a certain amount of carries don't coach football cause it is all about getting a rythum going. As a back runs more they start seeing things better and reacting quicker. Just don't get it.

I think they are being used just fine. Now that McFarlane isn't injured I would guess he starts to get a few more carries than Morris.

Just so funny to see the differing opinions. Some people think only Gulley and AAM should see the ball so they can be in rhythm. Other people think Morris, McFarlane and Erv should be seeing the ball. Lots of people think we sub too much at running back.

IMO, Moore is just not good running out the shotgun unless the line opens him up a big initial hole. The backs with more initial burst have a better chance in the shotgun. If it were me I would run Morris and Mcfarlane first 2 downs, then gulley as the 3rd down back. Then use Moore situationally, but even then he has not shown the ability to get tough yards when needed.

Moore seems to be really good if he can get some kind of hole.. he then runs hard and gets the extra yards.. he struggles when the hole isnt obvious. Gulley has that hop move that gets more out of nothing but often its only for a few yards. Phillips seems to be the one guy that if we can get him to the 2nd level can make people miss. The other two run tough but seems like they usually get the plays where the oline breaks down.

here's a weird stat about aam

YPC
Q1 4.25
Q2 4.43
Q3 3.67
Q4 16.63

not sure if it's just random but I think probably not

I'm guessing we've got a sample size issue. Plus, didn't he have a bunch of yards late when CMU stopped caring?

he picks up a lot of garbage time yards.

I think we are going to be seeing a lot more of all of them. Other than Wilson surprising in the passing game early, Lester probably has no other choice. Lester said Wilson's arm is "special" and coming from a former QB, that ain't nothing. But still a lot to handle for the kid. Lester will probably take shots down the field to open things up but that is about it.

Ground and pound coming up.

What I'm interested in is who Lester thinks should be running the ball more.

Well you also though Lemon held the offense back, so at least your consistent.
Are you down on gulley?

I was saying that everyone wants the backup rb and they're wrong

Not sure what you're talking about

Nah, he's okay, don't get the venom from people here. He dances in the hole too much, but when he a pretty good one cut runner when he gets the chance.

I was wondering if there were stats for runs over 30 yards and what quarter they came in?

I like PTG and I feel like he seems to break big runs later in games when he is being fed the rock. I am just curious what the stats are for that

Cfbstats is my go to, they show longest run by quarter but not a count like that unfortunately

All the data was free and you could dump into access and query anything but now they charge for the full data files. Can't blame them

Sports-reference cfb is pretty good too don't have the URL handy

Marrone's staff loved Morris and felt he had the most potential on the team two years ago. Not sure why he isn't getting the ball more often, but maybe he's got a bit of Funderburk in him.
