We were 1-3 and would have been 1-4 if we lost. At that point, Marrone certainly would have lost the fan base. And at 1-4 with only a few wins left on the schedule, the season could have been lost. We'd have been looking at 3-8 or 4-7. And another lost season puts a lot of pressure on Gross and Marrone. Which changes recruiting. This was a very important win. At 2-3, with tough but winnable games against UCONN and Rutgers, the season is far from over. 6-6 is within the grasp.

If it changes the course of Marrone's critical 4th season as head coach, depending on how things play out, this win could be the most important of his tenure. Every game is important, but this was a big one.

It all depends on how the rest of the season goes. People said beating WVU last year was the most important win of the Marrone era and we had finally turned the corner. We all know what happened after that. The cliches of having a short memory and one game at a time very much apply here.

Whatever win gets us to Bowl Eligibility this year will be the most important win of the Marrone Era.

I think that was the most important win of last season. People outside of Syracuse still talk about that win despite the fact that we had a losing season, it changed the perspective on the program.

Marrone was a different animal last night. Visibly animated, emotional, really seemed into the game. And I think the kids fed off of that. Really hope he develops some of that coach Mac style and demeanor.

I think those people also talk about how we didn't win another game the rest of the year and view the WVU win as more of a blip than anything else.

If we win 4 more games this year and go to a bowl game, then I'll be willing to entertain the idea that the Pitt win was the most important of the Marrone era so far. If we end up with only 4 wins all year, the Pitt win will be forgotten. My original point was that it's too early to tell if this is Marrone's biggest win. We'll only know how important last night was after we can judge it within the context of the entire season.

I think now that he's done it once, it will be easier for him in the future. I'm a naturally introverted person, yet I sold cars very successfully for 8 years and have been teaching 7th graders for the last 6 years. Both jobs require some type of emotion and a 12 year old can pick up on fake enthusiasm pretty quickly. Once I learned to "open it up" a little bit it became much easier to do on a more regular basis. HCDM seems to have a similar personality and possibly like myself he's a very emotional person but doesn't like showing it. So IMO it will be a lot easier for him to show his excitement and embrace the game with the players and staff.

It was a home conference win, which have been few and far between. Nice win who cares if it is most important or whatever. Just win the damn games.

Nice job shutting Pitt our for over 16 minutes with only a one point lead.

BTW if it hadn't been for that stupid Keon PF on the last drive of the NW game the last defensive series would have looked a lot like this one and we would have beaten NW.

It sure seems like DM's change in demeanor was intentional. Shows he's not stubborn and is willing to adapt. Wins huge points in my book.
