I think we thought we would all see more of Alton Robinson this year in the sack department.

Yes he's getting double teamed and has had pressure but the sacks haven't been there/

My question is why aren't we moving him around more, lining up at right defensive end?

For this defense to be successful he needs to be disruptive, def hoping for more in the last 7 games.

I'd like to see them move Berry inside on passing down more, they did a couple of times in the second half with the first team D, could be a nice wrinkle.
Noticed this. Believe Berry had a 1-on-1 with a guard and was just wayyyyy to quick for him. Holy Cross talent level, showed significant speed.

Rewatching now, they dropped him inside of ARob, mid Second Q, got a sack.

ARob, BB, Black, Coleman, that's a formidable pass rush group.

I’m sorry but if he’s a 1st Rd pick like some have suggested he needs to get to the QB

I think that’s what fans assume but it’s just not accurate. Not getting sacks can be attributable to so many things, scouts look at a lot more then just sack numbers determining draft potential.

The big question is beyond sack numbers for a DT on passing plays. How disruptive is he. Disruption is two things; during play and game planning by the offense. He disrupts the offense during play and causes the opposing offense to game plan for him specifically. That’s evident by the double teams and teams relying on quick passes on a lot of plays.

Robinson’s been getting to the QB. The qb passes the ball quick to open guys because we often start in soft coverage with cushions outside of CF and Meli, Meli’s been hurt.

They are playing more press man than they ever have. A big part of the total yardage given up is the amount of attempts against. The completion percentage and passer rating against are very good.

I rarely notice more than one db playing press, rarely. I think this changes once Iffy’s 100%.

On top of that our safety play is so wildly inconsistent that its hard for the QB not to find at least one option wide open.

Yes, this was effective and I think his presence inside was the first time all season that we got pressure from the inside on passing downs. Need to see more of that.

Add shot out of a cannon Tyrell Richards on a blitz, and 5 should feel like 6 or 7. With 6 in coverage.

I was reading Elmore's bio. Granted, it's high school, but #2 DT in Illinois, 19 TFL, 14 sacks his senior year. Sure, why not keep giving him a try, see if any of the old magic comes back.

we played almost all press on both wides with no press on the slot and have done that most of the yr. on 3rd down we have gone cover 3 zone alot.

Upon closer look we were really mixing it up on the DLine against HC. So far through the first quarter, Elmore, Berry then Harper all got snaps - as did Richards. Elmore was first off the bench on the 2nd defensive series. All seem to be situational. Elmore and Harper got run on early downs. Berry then Richards got run on 3rd and longer than 5. Berry looks as big as Black in there and really gets after it.

Nope. That's not really the only thing that will get you drafted to the NFL as a D/E. How disruptive are you, are you making the QB hurry throws and make bad decisions. Are defenses game planning to stop you? Chandler Jones went in the first round, never had more than 4.5 sacks. Alton will surpass that number.

Yes on the outside but not inside. Remember the te from WM had a gazillion yards. Maryland game had so many first downs on short in the middle passes that did what they needed and kept De of off them.

This is where they really miss having a SAM on the field.
