I’m willing to bet Mr Excitement’s habit of announcing who is in at QB is going to cost us an element of surprise snap at some point this season.

I can see Dino trying to insert Shrader or DeVito off the bench in a situational play this year.

Hope it’s not a repeat of the infamous “in at QB for Syracuse,Cody Catalina”….as we snuck him on the field for a trick play several years ago…

I don’t remember exactly but it was definitely someone named “John barker” that was announced. Maybe it was a punter that lined up as QB. I 100% remember him announcing Barker

Barker was a walk-on punter we would line up at WR.

They would pitch him the ball on an end around, and he'd quick kick.

Was just texting friends about the all time PA blunders at the Dome. Came up with some doozies in addition to the ones above.

Carl Eilenberg introducing “Craig may the Forth be with you”…and Forth giving him the “no more” throat slash gesture from mid court.

JB nearly attacking Eilenberg after he proudly announced that some visiting team (Butler?!?!) had just scored the fewest first half points in Carrier Dome history.

and the “Be loud, be proud, be Orange” mantra still feels awkward and forced.

We were playing WVU in 2007 and Veley announced over the PA we had a different holder in and Rich-Rod said some of his coaches heard and they knew a fake was happening.

Veley is the worst. He talks way too much during basketball and always wants to turn his job into a pseudo play by play type of the thing.

He shouldn’t be heard during football games other than during commercials and he talks WAY TOO damn much in basketball. To the degree my GF who goes to appease me says he talks way too much and ruins the experience.
Veley should be replaced.
Carl Ellenberg he isn’t.

I remember JB giving Veley the business when he was announcing Cooney was one 3 pt make against Notre Dame in 2014 from the school record. JB literally wanted to rip the mic from him. It was making Cooney gun for the record.
I was rooting for JB to do it.

He's horrendous.

The JB-Eilenberg blow-up was during the WVa game in 2003. We played MtM vs the 'Neers both games that year, and totally squelched them.

I loved him in My Cousin Vinny.

It's amazing that he always knows what QB is in the game but never notices when there is a flag on the field, sometimes even talking excitedly over the referee announcing a penalty that is bringing a big gain back.

Mike Veley not on the PA is a good dude who has been instrumental in building up the sport management program at Cuse.

Don't disagree with the takes here.
He is a great professor.
He built the Falk school up big time.
His fundraiser with sports memorabilia every year is amazing.

He is just an attention seeking PA announcer. He needs to be replaced or talk a lot less immediately.

Think it was Huggy-bear's team. Boeheim was irate. It was Veley, though, not Carl.

Every word out of his mouth feels awkward and forced. He's a good fan, I'll give him that, but rough to listen to.

Yep, and they played a 1-3-1 zone, also known as a "here you go, Hakim and Carmelo, have some more unguarded baseline dunks" defense.

Nope. It was Eilenberg, and it was Beilein's team. I think the personal relationship (from the Lemoyne tenure) was a factor in JB's objection to what he thought was a demeaning announcement.

That was the game in Morgantown. WVa actually got out to a double-digit lead, behind an unknown freshman named "Pittsnoggle". GMac probably had 6 assists on weak-side alley oops.

You would think HCDB would remember this and make it known to Mr. Excitement that this would be unacceptable.

Another job for life slob that won't get fired no matter what level of incompetence is demonstrated.

Eilenberg was PA announcer until 2007 - so it definitely was him.
