The Orange is also No. 20 in the most recent College Soccer News Top 30 rankings. Polls: TopDrawerSoccer.com Top 25 | College Soccer News Top 30 ORANGE CURRENTLY TIED FOR SECOND IN THE ATLANTIC With its 1-0 triumph at Clemson Saturday, Syracuse earned its first points of the season in the ACC standings. The Orange is currently tied for second place in the Atlantic Division with Clemson and Wake Forest. The winners of the Atlantic and Coastal Divisions automatically qualify for the ACC Championship. The next eight teams in the conference standings (regardless of division) round out the tournament field. 2014 ACC Atlantic Division Standings Louisville – 6 pts. Syracuse – 3 pts. Clemson – 3 pts. Wake Forest – 3 pts. NC State – 1 pt. Boston College – 0 pts. MURRELL LENDS A HELPING HAND Senior back Jordan Murrell recorded his team-leading third assist of the season on Emil Ekblom's game-winning goal against Clemson Saturday night. For Murrell, it was his 16th career assist placing him in a tie with John Andrade (1998-2001) in tie for ninth on SU's all-time list. Murrell is known for his pinpoint services, but Saturday at Riggs Field it his was a long pass ahead to Ekblom that resulted in the deciding goal. TWO MORE SHUTOUTS Syracuse's clean sheets versus Cornell and Clemson raised its season total to six shutouts in seven games. In 2012, Syracuse also notched a half dozen clean sheets in its first seven outings. That should bode well for the 2014 club as the 2012 squad finished with a 14-6-1 overall record and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16. The Orange has allowed just one goal so far this season, the fewest through the first seven games of any season in team history. CORNELL VICTORY EXTENDS NON-CONFERENCE WIN STREAK SU's 3-0 shutout of Cornell on Sept. 16 pushed the Orange's winning streak against non-league foes to 16 games. Overall, Syracuse is 5-0 against non-conference opponents this season and has not lost to an out-of-conference team since being clipped, 3-1, by Cal State Fullerton on Sept. 16, 2012 – a span of more than two calendar years. THEY SAID IT "It took a tremendous amount of character and guts, and to grind out the result tonight was fantastic." - Ian McIntyre On Syracuse's 1-0 road win at Clemson FROM THE TWITTERVERSE Juuso Pasanen @PasanenJuuso Love my squad. Sometimes you have to grind hard to get a win #daretocuse @SUMensSoccer
