I'm 31 and I know of him as the guy who did some NBA commentary for a minute.Do most NYC kids know who Mullin is? I'm 37 and barely remember him. "Your dad (or even grandfather with some of them) loved me" is not a recruting pitch.

i think this might be a disaster. no doubt chris mullin was one of the greatest players ever to play in the BE. old school gym rat with great ball skills and instincts.
i don't know that he can teach those intangibles to today's players or even coach a lick. sentimental pick for sure. but i'm not sold it was the right move.
