Full contact for the backup QBs- Wilson looked really good, but I wonder if this format (no touching the QB)favors him over the quicker QBs Kimble and Long. I know there's always an injury risk, but is playing them any more risky than playing a guy like Estime? I think you'd learn a lot more about them and they'd learn a lot more from from it.

Thoughts?

I see your point maybe the first guy has to fully grab the Qb with both hands or the second guy to touch him for the backups and hes down.

If this had been full contact on all QB's but Hunt, Long would have been murdered. He is not physically ready to take that kind of punishment. I posted earlier that when he took off to his left that Darius Kelly was there waiting for him. If it had been full contact, Kelly would have unloaded on him and they would still be scraping him off the turf. Thompson, Simmons and Coleman all had clear untouched sacks and the only quarterback we have built to take those direct hits is Hunt.

I think it would be foolish to risk a season (or career) -ending injury to your #2 QB during the spring game. Also, Kimble is just recovering from a back injury (not suggesting he is #2) and doesn't need to end up back on the DL.

I hear what some of you are saying, but based on that, why do full contact for Sean Hickey, Brisly Estime, Dy Davis etc.-Anyone can suffer an injury and at least if you do it now, there about 4 months till the season. I believe Clemson did some full contact in the Spring. Like I said, I wouldn't risk it for Hunt, but I think the pros outweigh the cons with 3 backups who seem pretty close together right now. Maybe thud?

i agree its tough to see how there runs would work out in no contact. i think shafer wanted the defensive guys to wrap up the QBs. a couple of times he said to the refs, make the D wrap up / form tackle before blowing the whistle. i think some of it was on the ref. i tink thats the best youre gonna get, bc yea our qbs need to add some weight.

I did like the use of the alternate jerseys for the scrimmage

No way...Coach Shafer would be Rutgersed in the media if one of the backups got hurt.

Either full contact for all QBs or no contact for all.

Really? You never want injuries, but do you think it'd be a bigger deal than Estime or Hickey getting hurt in the game?

Clemson's QBs wore a different color jersey than the other players. I'm kind of surprised that SU's QBs did not.

He would be skewered if Broyld/West were no touch but the rest of the WRs were open game and one of them got hurt too.
