I just watched his HS highlight tape, since he has played so little at Syracuse, to get an idea what kind of a player he is.

I would say he is no speedster but is agile in the open field and it looks like he is capable of breaking some tackles. Big, strong guy.
It looks like he can make throws on the run (he will probably need to) and it looks like he has good vision on broken plays. He will probably need that too.
Liberty's defense has been weak against the run. Could the staff look to exploit with by installing some option plays? They have experimented with them in the recent past with Tommy...I would not be surprised to see some of this.
If Tucker is not healthy, it really becomes hard to attack Liberty with running plays. Pierce seems to lack vision and hasn't really shown much speed or power. I have heard some good things about Lutz flashing since he was moved to RB, but Pena was the guy the staff went to last week (along with Pierce) after Tucker hurt).
My guess is all three of the remaining RBs will get some playing time and the staff will go to the one with the hot hand. It is a great opportunity for Pena and Lutz to come out of nowhere and become a big factor on the team. The same applies to Pierce. I hope someone steps up. If we have to rely on Culpepper to throw it a ton to move the ball, it is going to be tough to put a lot of points on the board.
Liberty will surely do with everyone else does against us...play 8 men in the box, play tight man coverage on our WRs, try to take away the short passes and the running back and force us to attack them with long passes. They aren't nearly as well equipped to pull this off as the ACC teams we have been facing, but with all the injuries, our offense is a shell of itself, and we weren't very good when the skilled guys were healthy.
I think one of the keys to the game is Thompson and his availability. If he can go and is healthy, we have a chance to stop their running game. It would really help if Richards as able to play as well. I think those are our two best LBs against the run.
Not sure the other linebackers are ready to stop the run at this point in their careers. That goes for the remaining safeties as well. Maybe you move Iffy to Rover and put Nunn at CB? We are so thin at CB, that would be a dangerous thing to try. But we have to find a way to stop the run and get more beef in the middle.
