I’m sure I’ll get called a SU Homer for this view - but here are my biggest takeaways from the past two games. - This is why the QB is the most important position on the field and it’s a must that you bring in as much talent here as possible. We saw all season what this offense does with Dungey, who is the best QB here since McNabb IMO. When he’s hurt - this offense falls to pieces. With Zach and Rex showing they have limitations to their effectiveness, it’s really important for Devito to be a hit and to bring in a couple more for depth purposes. (What a perfect transition...) - DEPTH. Dino said from the start that one of the biggest needs for this team is to establish depth that can compete with the rest of the ACC. Sure, we have some really great players in the starting lineup, but our three deep needs to have the ability to step in without missing s beat when they’re on the field, and sadly, we’re not there yet. I truly believe we are on the right track. We are getting the players here. The next step is getting them ready from a size and strength perspective. We all know this takes time. When you lose two starting safety’s, and are now relying on players that for the most part, struggle when on the field - it’s too big of an issue to overcome. Same with the OL. We’ve seen glimpses here because we’re young. Once the strength portion catches up, I’m Not worried a bit. - Lastly, if someone honestly doesn’t believe this team is on the right track to getting there, I don’t know what to tell you. This is the first time in a long time that (when ED was healthy) I truly thought we had the ability to win every game we played in. Dino Babers is one of the best things to happen to Syraxuse Football. Let’s try and close out against BC and then finish the recruiting year with momentum. The next two years are going to be really fun to watch.
