Dark horse means someone who hasnt contributed much in the past or a new player. Here are my thoughts by position.

QB: not much to pick from but i would say Wilson. This is the one position that i hope we dont see much from other than Hunt.

RB/Express: Fredericks. I love this kid and believe that he becomes a star for us

OL: McGloster

WR/TE: Avant

DL: Charles

CB/S: Fredrick

LB: Thomas

Specials: Norton

How is a career backup kicker with consistency issues a dark horse?

I know the idea of players unexpectedly emerging is appealing, but for all of these players to do more than they have kind of indicates an issue with the quality of players we have in place, doesn't it?

Yes it could mean that or it could also mean that the dark horse plays because in this case he kicks off

Not to jump on the guy, but, he's got more than consistency issues.

KC, having a senior walk on like Charles be able to step up and provide some stop gap, serviceable play at DT -- a key position where depth is limited -- would really be a pretty remarkable thing. Here's hoping you're right! Even if it is just as a fifth DT who can do his job and not hurt the team, man sign me up for that.

Offense:

Estime
McFarlane
Hunt

Defense:

Samuels
Simmons
Arcinega
Winfield
Dowels

I'm going Jordan on O. Steven "the hulk" Clark on D. Jacob Hill at PR.

And if Hunt gets hurt, Dungey at QB.

Good list. I'm not sure Hill will see the field at all this year (but I like his potential in a few years). We really need Dungey, Fredricks and Clark to be studs at some point.

My thing with one of the picks I'm seeing is, is Clark really even a dark horse at this point? Don't we all pretty much expect him to step in and contribute in a big way from the first game on?

Also, let me answer for Cali:

QB - Jacob Hill
RB - Jacob Hill
WR - Jacob Hill
LT - Jacob Hill
PK - Jacob Hill
DT - Jacob Hill
WLB - Jacob Hill
MLB - Jacob Hill
SS - Jacob Hill
Head Coach - Jacob Hill

A lot depends on health.

Offense:

XB: Perkins. Big fan of his athletic ability. He is still recovering from his knee surgery and isn't quite 100% but I think the world of his ability. Also at RB, I am high on Fredericks, who has a blend of speed and power we have not often seen in recent years. I think McFarland will surprise a lot of people here too with his all around game (but you can't call a starter a sleeper).
OL: Hayes looks good to me. I think he is ready but he needs an injury to get on the field. I will also say I think first year start Aaron Roberts is going to be very solid, but I don't know how you can call a starter a sleeper.
TE: Everyone is talking about Parris and McPherson but Moore was quietly moved back to TE and I think he might make a signficant contribution here.

Defense:

CB: Dowels makes plays. Very limited sample size but I like what I have seen of him. A lot.
LB: I think Taylor might play his way on to the field. Impressive athlete. Should at least be a standout player for us on special teams. If there is an opening at Will, Cullen looks ready to play right now.
DL: Charles made a number of good TFLs in limited playing time. Needs work on his conditioning but he might end up playing in our two deep. Shepperd is really impressive but might have to wait a year before he gets his chance. It is all about opportunity.

I post of my stuff just to get us going. I get a huge kick out of the responses and im actually keeping a journal of my favorite posters which i will publish in a few years. So many of us including myself are predicable. Wait to you see the chapter on Bees off the chart

I wasn't saying you're wrong--I'm expressing that I'm hoping you're right! Wouldn't it be incredible if we could get 15 quality snaps from a walk on, helping to bolster a key position of need?

I didnt think that you were and yes i think that would be fantastic. I went off point because i post and respond a ton not because i think that i have much to say that is of value but because i love the back and forth from everyone. What i have found is that like any other situation posters on this board have a signature and it is as predicable as ice melting in the spring. Im actually more predicable than most.

As to Charles i think that he does have game and might just seen 5-10 snaps a game. I hope no more than that as it would indicate injury to some of the others.

Looks like the first dark horse on the track is my boy and bud light poster child Mr. Norton!

My dark horse is Tim Lester ;)
Lester and is O are on the "hot seat" What is needed is execution.....! No puzzled looks at the sideline by the players would be a good start.

I don't think you can be on the hot seat when it's your first full season doing a job. After last season, it would be hard for the O not to improve.

You are right More than likely the O will be better. Dark horse players: Cornelius and Simmons.
