I have six Duke friends with whom I chat about basketball and they are in rapture! They have not had the greatest seasons in the last few years (by Duke standards) and they are seeing glory a-coming! Now, I don't blame them one bit. I am just wondering: knowing what we know now - after ONE WHOLE GAME - do people here feel uneasy about the coming Armageddon in the Carrier Dome Feb. 1?

Duke has a star-studded lineup this year... Surely strong enough to contend for ACC title... However they are majorly flawed, no strong big men. It will stop them during March madness.

Duke, Kentucky, and Ohio State are my least favorite college basketball programs. Duke has been number one on that list for many years because of the butt kissing they seem to always get from ESPN. Kentucky now is getting at least equal treatment.

That said, it looks like they do have the players this year. I have to reluctantly admit that K is a good coach. They're probably going to be a tough win for us, but I think at home we've got a decent shot. Uneasy...I'm always uneasy before a basketball game no matter who we play.

We seem to play our best basketball against the better teams...at least in recent years.

Uhhh dislike this post. Armageddon in the carrier dome? That is a tad of a stretch this early. Duke looked great offensively against Davidson, but it is only November. Doubt they see the shots against us the see against Davidson. I'll take our forward combo of fair and grant against hood and Parker. Trevor Cooney for three. Get used to hearing that. I'm not even going to worry about duke until January.

She's being sarcastic, relax

honestly I am a humble guy if Duke wins four championships in the next 14 years but we get to win two because of it and go to 8 elite eights and 5 final fours I will be happy! Yes that is cutting us short but I still would be really happy.

interesting, would you say the same for georgetown or fucon?
its going to take a few years before people hate duke as much as our last real rivasls

There would be no need to because they aren't that good. Uconn had 2 titles and one fluke in four final fours in 20 years.

Duke fans are excited for a fun season, but people here are not thinking national championship. Duke looked as bad against Drury last week as they looked good Saturday against Davidson.

Coach K is using a completely new system to take advantage of depth, quickness and the two talented forwards. That's exciting, and things all clicked Saturday, but lets wait and see.

They sound like terrible people to me.

Ha ha! If you met them over dinner, you would love them. Many years ago I went to the SU/Duke game down in Greensboro with one of them. He stood up on the arms of his chair at one point! He was a frickin maniac! Thank god we won.

It's a bit of a stressor for me to have Duke in our conference now. (See what I did there?) I am eagerly wondering how I will handle it. So far, I just write lame posts.

JB and K are very close friends who share a deep mutual respect for each other. They would never sked against each other while in different conferences. It will be interesting this year being in the same conference. Each will play for pride and everything else -- and certainly to win. As I have posted before, K agreed to coach the Olympic team in London (and going forward in Rio) only after JB agreed to be his top assistant. There is a very interesting dynamic here.

I was just kidding. I say this about anyone who doesn't root for the 'Cuse.

I have to admit that I have ties to Duke as well as Syracuse.
In fact, I have a Duke sweatshirt.
It's really warm.
I'm going to miss that sweatshirt.
But it's going to look good under the dog.
Get some fabric paint and be creative!

If you could handle the despicable likes of G-town...you can handle Duke.
Not in the same league (pun intended).

That was a great game in Greensboro.
I was there, too...Coleman versus Laettner.
DC cleaned up on the glass. And Stephen Thompson had a big game.
Although we almost lost it at the foul line.

This. They were outrebounded by Davidson and managed only 3 offensive rebounds the whole game. Granted their shooting % had a lot to do with this but I think there is a little crack in their armor. They're not always going to shoot almost 70%.

So true. Frustrating that we have two McD centers and probably won't be able to exploit them inside. Although Rak's increased activity is a good sign.

Sulaimon and Quinn Cook are really good. They will be tough to deal with. Really quick and decent size. It was back and forth and fairly even most of the game vs Louisville in the tourney. Louisville played with amazing passion after the injury. I think Duke may have won if there was no injury.

SU beat them in an ACC Big East Challenge game in Greensboro, circa 1989 I believe. Lotta big names played in that game.

Yep. You have a sweet little video lurking on Youtube of it, I believe. ;)
