Very happy we have a bye week before our big-time showdown with Clemson. We can heal up, get a few lifts in, continue to let the offense gel under Terrel and a get a few extra days to work on the Clemson game-plan. The problem is that I NEED some Syracuse Football this weekend. I will be watching my DVR of Tulane again. I will definately be watching the Clemson/Wake game and will be rooting for Clemson to whoop up on 'em. I also hope Oregon, Ohio State and Alabama lose this weekend so we would get to the play the #1 ranked team in the land. This is very unlikely obviously, but I have some time to kill so why not think about? Nebraska 1984 all over again? ;)

This season started out with a thud. A major THUD actually. With the benefit of hindsight, Drew Allen should have started out on the bench and Terrel should've gotten the nod against Penn St. Then again, who knows what would've happened had Terrel started against a good team like Penn St. None of that matters right now. As long as Terrel can continue to progress and improve the chemistry he has with the offense, things look good. He's shown how dynamic he can be against the likes of Wagner and Tulane. While they were certainly inferior competition, he still looked damn good in dissecting them. Small and skewed sample size, but he certainly gives us the best chance to win. I don't think anyone can question that.

With our inaugural ACC season about to kick off in 8 days, the competition will get stiffer and the lights will get brighter. I have full confidence in him to continue leading this team through all of the ups and downs. The thing I am most impressed with is the poise from this young man. He oozes confidence and you can tell he puts everyone else around him on the offense at a calm ease. He certainly has the "it" factor that you simply cannot teach. Now he has a long way to go before he is annointed as a good SU QB, but the best part about Terrel is that he is only a redshirt sophomore. We got 2 more years of him. So far through 2 games, I remain cautiously bullish on him.

In closing, my excitement stems from we have happening at the Dome next weekend. Clemson is the highest ranked team to play in the Dome in years. It happens to be our very first ACC football game as well. Our whole football team will be soaking up this weekend's Clemson game like sponges. Dialed in. We finally have some momentum going headed into the bye week. We have some key players that are dinged up. It gives the trainers time to work on some of these nagging injuries and it gives everyone else a chance to hit the weight room and continue working with their units. I am an eternally optimistic Orange guy, so it's hard to temper my positive attitude right now. We have our QB. Our offense is clicking. Our defense needs to step up to their biggest challenge of the year. Special Teams play has been superb lately. Shafer's is pumped, the players are starting to have fun.

The Dome WILL be rocking. I doesn't matter if there are 40,000 or 48,000 people there, that place will be LOUD. It gives us such a huge advantage, so get your asses to the game next weekend. Bring a friend or 20. The more people there, the better. A big recruiting game as well. Another thing: wear ORANGE.

Let's Go Orange (and Clemson this weekend)! Have a great weekend Cuse Nation...

I was super stoked Monday. But then I remember it the bye week so I was a bit deflated. Monday of next week I should be real fired up again. I will be there. I will be loud. And o won't sit down when the person behind me asks me to.

Cuse.

The season didn't start with a thud. It started with a 6-point loss to Penn State. Woulda, coulda, shoulda. The problem was going to Northwestern, where we were exposed, I think, because of a poor defensive game plan.

I'm more interested in seeing how we do against NCST, Maryland, GT and Pitt. Run the table on those and end up 6-2 the first year, that would be a hell of a start, 2-2 gets the job done. After what I saw last night I think we can at least do that.

Next Sat. is a pure house money game. Short of a massive blowout or serious injury there is no downside.

No question. Well said.

The real problem was an abomination on offense in the first half, Drew should have been pulled after the first quarter. Even a great defense would have been discouraged with how pathetic the offense was.

A big recruiting game as well.
