How do you "fix" the transfer rules in this current landscape? Indiana just bought TCU's QB, Michigan State's WR, and Boston College's RB. Maybe MSU can afford to compete with Indiana, maybe not. Unequal TV revenue = uneven playing field. The only way to fix it is to screw over the players' freedoms and ability to earn.. If Fran "gave the talk" to 20 or so players... let's not pretend that it is SO good for them even in this current landscape. We would do whatever Indiana is doing if we could... we just don't have the $$$ to do it. Moreover, while I lament that Syracuse may not ever have an opportunity to win a title again... people born the week of our last national football title are now retirement age. People born the week of our last 11-win season are now approaching 40. There are only three current college coaches with titles... in a few weeks, it will be 4. This landscape has already changed drastically. Miami, Oregon, Indiana, and Ole Miss are willing/able to pay big $$$. The last 4 teams to lose in the playoffs this year with Texas Tech ($$$), Alabama, Ohio State, and Georgia... all teams that can run circles around us financially. Syracuse does not need to just put in the money. They need to find it. Probably $25M in 2026 dollars... and more and more each year moving forward.
