KJO - He is having a solid season. He is more or less doing what I had expected, though I am mildly disappointed he hasn't been more of a go to guy. No real improvements to his game other than in very small increments - B- (relative to expectations)

Dion - I did expect good things from Dion, but he has certainly busted out in a huge way. I believe there will be several games before all is said & done when we go to Dion down the stretch for big hoops. His ability to deliver or not in those situations will determine if we are a FF team or better -A

Fab - who would have guessed this much improvement - great progression by the big guy - A

XMas - I felt from the beginning that he was raw. Still feel that way. Maybe next year, but more likely as a junior he emerges - C

Scoop - I wish the physical skills matched the mindset. He is not afraid of big stages and big situations, he is just athletically limited compared to some others - B

Brandon - He sometimes seems to have a scowl on his face. He gets on rolls, but doesn't seem to be able to figure things out when things aren't going his way. He lacks the eye of the tiger. I think he should be better than he is - C

CJ - I have always been high on CJ. He is a glue guy and a battler. Lately, he sometimes seems to shoot more than he should. Still - gotta like his improved J & confidence - B+

James - I have in general not been as high on James as some others. He now can scrap on the boards & score in ways that aren't threes. His handle is better though it still needs to improve. I am really happy with his progression - A-

MCW - Love his floor vision. He will be terrific a year or two down the road. I thought he might be a bit of a better scorer than he has shown so far - B

BMK - Needs to improve his strength & his ability to finish inside. Runs the floor very well & is a very solid backup at the five - B

Coaching - Jimmy has done a great job with this group & should be in the COY running.

I have little quarrel with any of your ratings, although I think you are being too hard on BT. He is having a decent year. Both he and KJo have thrown
up a couple of stinkers, so I think whatever you assign to KJo it is about the same for BT. Just one man's opinion...

Pretty reasonable rankings; I'd give Fab a B. An A should be reserved for someone who's really done great things; Fab's improvement has been nice, but he's missing too many lay-ups and playing too much shaky defense (albeit with foul trouble) to earn an A...so far. In 15 more games, he could be even better.

Agree that Brandon seems to be streaky and tends to get down on himself; however, he is a rebounding machine from the guard position. I love that James has been taking (and making) more mid-range jumpers and that CJ has extended his effectiveness to the 3 pt line! MCWs value this year, with all the scorers we have the the team, will be adapting to the point guard position at the college level and distributing to them. Some of his passes have been sick, unfortunately some of them have been to James & BMK, who do not have the best hands to receive quick passes. I have no doubt he will learn and refine his scoring along the way.

My rankings were relative to my expectations for each player. Agree that Fab is not an A in an absolute sense, but compared to last season & what I personally expected from him this season he has earned an A in my book. That is also why I have Brandon lower than another responder in this thread liked, he is a player who has done reasonably well in an absolute sense, but who I think should have progressed beyond where I think he is right now.

KJ's 3 point shooting has improved a great deal from last year. His defense is better and he's a lot more explosive than last year. He is going to be first team all Big East and I'll take that any day. He's also showing great leadership, along with Scoop. Don't ever understate that when 10 guys are playing.

i think triche has done fine this year, when you have a team this well-balanced, its non-sensical to think that everyone is going to avg 18 ppg...brandon's 10 ppg is what you would expect playing on the same team as kj and dion. if brandon played on a different team that hasn't been as stacked as our teams have been while he's been here, he would have more touches and chances to be more of the go-to guy.

call me crazy, but having a low maintence guy like brandon is a great asset to have on your team, he has been part of TWO teams to be ranked number one, that is quite the resume. sorry but i just get the impression that some people on this board think brandon is a scrub even though he starts for the number one team in the nation, not many basketball players can say that

On BT, depends on your expectations. If you were looking for a lot of year over year improvement to make him a go-to scorer, you might be disappointed. He is a solid as one of our top 3 guards, and when he gets 3 treys in a game, we love him. But he isn't going to get quicker with his dribble or better at getting his own shot when guarded. He does a lot of other things (defense, rebounding, unselfish play) to help the team.
