Coach Babers’s show this year show will be Thursday nights at 7PM except when the game is not on a Saturday. This year it will be 60 minutes, with the first 50 minutes being with Dino and the last 10 minutes being with a ‘special guest’, who in the past just got a couple minutes at the end of the show.

The show originates from Heritage Hill Brewery in Jamesville:
3149 Sweet Rd · 3149 Sweet Rd, Jamesville, NY 13078

You can also listen to the show live each week on the Syracuse IMG Sports Network and Cuse.com. Wednesday's show will be on 99.1 FM and 97.7 FM, as well. The show will regularly air on 99.5FM (Syracuse) 99.1 FM (Utica) and 1200 AM.”
You can also get it on: https://tunein.com/radio/home/

There hasn’t been any change in the phone numbers, which last year were 315-424-8599 (local) or 1-888-746-2873. You can call to ask questions or submit them via Twitter at: https://twitter.com/CuseIMG (Update: this account seems to have closed.)
#AskDino or through Cuse.com, (the SU Athletic website):
http://cuse.com/sb_output.aspx?form=4

You can (or could last year, anyway), listen to a podcast of the show, probably the next day, at: Search results for babers | Free Internet Radio | TuneIn

My Question(s) or Comments (or theories)

Coach, it seemed we’d made a breakthrough when we went 10-3 in 2018. Then we had three straight losing records. I think last year’s team was similar to the 2018 team and would have had a similar season, (the Clemson game was virtually a replay of the 2018 game), but injuries prevented it.

What prevented us from building on the success of 2018 and how much different is our situation now?

Besides injuries, I think the other difference was that the ACC was better last year than 2018. Particularly FSU, and also Wake, the two additional teams we lost to on top of Clemson, Pitt and ND(the three losses in 2018)

Anyway, love your weekly question, will be interesting to hear what Dino says!

And a lot of the pieces from 2018 weren't on 2019 whereas a lot of last year's most important pieces are back this year.

Great question, looking forward to hear how he answers.

Well, Covid wasn’t a thing in 2019 when the team took a hard nose dive so that can’t be an excuse
Not saying it is, but more so shooting my shot at what he will say lol. Yes 2019 was a disgrace all around.

My least favorite SU football team ever

True, but he's not going to spend time on his week 2 of 2023 radio show discussing the 2019 season.

Seems like what he took from it was that he isn't going to have the OL to put a pure passer type at QB. And that was cemented when Shrader started the Liberty game in 2021. And that we'd be better suited moving away from a 4-3 and into a 3-3-5 given what we recruit.

If he wins 6 more regular season games this year, it's not even a thing anymore. I just wish my brain could purge that Maryland game.

Isn't that strange...I can't get over that Maryland game either. I think it's sticking with a lot of us. So much positive feeling coming in on the start of the Tommy Devito era and that game just absolutely blew it up. Perhaps the worst Syracuse defensive performance of all time. I was physically sick.

I’ll never forget that Maryland game

So much hype, so much excitment

And we just vomited all over the place

One of the most demoralizing losses I can remember, Maryland ran all over us and we couldn't do anything to stop it. Puke city.

Sitting there in the baking hot College Park sun with a bunch of SU fans losing their minds didn't help.

Maryland selling beer at the stadium did help. A little. By halftime, it became a day to hang out without the wives and kids, so we made the most of it.

one interesting thing from Rocky interview. He said he had been to Heritage Hill before because it was close to where he was "staying" instead of "living." I truly hope this is not a Mitch Browning situation who lived in a hotel the year he coached on Grob's staff. No sense in making a residential commitment if Grob was going to get canned (and he did). I hope we are successful so that Dino gets extended and Rock stays at least another year or two. I truly am hoping for this to happen with all of my bodily might.

Bottom Line: They were ready to play and we weren't.
This is why until I see our oline play against a P5 team, I’m not believing anything. Am I hopeful? Of course I am. But I’m also not going to blow smoke up my own butt either. The oline did not look good in the Spring, it wasn’t settled in the Fall, and did not prove itself against Colgate either (yeah, 65 pts blah blah). I acknowledge the pieces we have. I need to see them work together.

Rocky Long is 73 years old. He’s not a long term solution. He was perpetuation of the system/stop gap. If we get him for 2-3 years, that would be the absolute most I would expect.

We’re just lucky he was one of the architects of the system and looking for a change that fit.

I wonder which of the current DC staff is going to sponge the most from Rocky, because as a coach, you can not let an opportunity like this get away.
