If he said "to win you have to score more points than the opponent at the end of the day"...obviously that's useless.  What specifically were discussed, taught, practiced and drilled on but not adhered to, I would like to know.

At this point, there is no saving the season, there is no longer a need to tip toe around this dumpster fire.

Are the players defiant and just not following directions?

Or the players giving up mentally went fishing?

Or the players didn't want any contact fearing injuries that's why they move aside on defense?

Why wouldn't Red give specifics?

These are kids, sometimes they need a fire lit under their butts to get them motivated.  I would absolutely tear into them if they do not follow directions.  Red is the coach he gets no respect if he tip toes around the players for fear they may transfer after the season.  It's his job to get them to play together and as a team.  If the problem is motivation than he needs to rally the team, whatever it takes use the speech at the end of Braveheart or We Are Marshall or The Darkest Hours whatever.  But I fear the issue is Red just doesn't have the vision of a system or he does but can't articulate it so it can be realized either case is a coaching failure with no hope of a course correction.
