First hour:

“Coach, there’s a joke going around that Trevor Cooney injured his back being thrown “under the bus” by Syracuse fans. Last week we were talking about Trevor Cooney’s strange trend of hitting his first shot and missing after that. His back injury could be an explanation: perhaps his back was tightening up as the game went on. How long has he been hurting and is the back the likely reason for his shooting problems?”

Second hour:

“ Coach, could you go over the protocol when a player gets hit by an elbow? I don’t think Tyler Roberson has been the same player since he got hit and yet they didn’t even look at the monitor, as they have done several times in the past when Syracuse elbows hit opposing players.”

Jim Boeheim’s radio show is on Thursdays from 7-9PM on ESPN Radio in Syracuse, which is AM1200 or FM 97.7 on the dial. The show originates from Delmonico’s Italian Steakhouse on Erie Boulevard in Syracuse. The first hour, hosted by Matt Park, the Voice of the Orange, is on their general network. The second hour, which begins with the conference season, is hosted by Gomez, a local radio personality.

You can call into the show locally at 315-424-8599 or nationally at 1-888-746-2873. For Gomez’s portion, use 315-424-8599. Or you can submit questions from this page:
http://cuse.com/sb_output.aspx?form=4
Or on Twitter at mattpark1.

The show can be heard in Syracuse on FM 99.5. It’s sometime simulcast on AM 1200 or FM 97.7. You can also get it on: http://tunein.com/radio/WGVA-1240-s29191/

I will be posting my rough transcript the night of the broadcast focusing on my questions, the team and their last and next games and then a second post the next day on other things that were discussed.

I'd love to have you ask him if he thinks that fouls are being called against guys defending Rak for the same level of contact as they are being whistled against Rak as a defender.

Personally I feel like he's getting hammered a good deal of the time without calls and is getting whistled for a lot of cheap fouls.

I tend to agree w you but i also think all fans think their guy is getting hosed on calls. Ie It tough for us fans to be objective.

What bothers me more than the stuff that goes on when these guys have the ball in their hands or are going up for a shot is what happens off the ball. The opposing centers off the ball are constantly grabbing, shoving, bumping Rak and this stuff rarely gets called. Now why that bothers me is Rak cant do the same because 1) he has to conserve his energy because he is our primary option on offense and many times he plays 37-40 mins and 2) he really has no experienced back up so he cant commit 5 fouls. Its an unfair fight what these guys do to Rak and what he really is in no position to do back to them. What he has accomplished and been subject to (for 35-40 mins almost every game) really is amazing

I to agree that teams get away with a ton on Rak. The problem is he leads the league in free throw attempts so I think it's hard for officials to justify sending him to the line more. It's just like Shaq back in the day

They don't have to justify it, just call the fouls that are committed. Leave it to the players committing the fouls to justify why they are committing so many.

I thought for sure you were going to ask him about mid-range jump shots!

I am really interested in your Roberson question, although he'll probably just throw you under the bus for that one.

I think he's implied as much, several times.

He did just say that he doesn't want Kaleb or Ronnie shootin g threes. "A lot of really, really good players don't shot threes. They find other way to help their team. :)

They say a good lawyer never asks a question unless he already knows the answer. I take to opposite approach to the JB Show.

Actually I did that last year and his views were the same as mine.

If the thread I started on that is still going next week, maybe I'll ask it again.
