and by that I mean my personal take as I made the trek with little man to the Dome for the game
first off, I have pics that I'll prob post here later in the week, not in the mood to upload now
secondly, and most importantly, my 6yo is NOT a jinx!!!! it was his 4th time seeing SU play live and the 1st 3 didn't end so well (final home BE game vs GTown, home vs the U and earlier this year, the layup no brianer win vs StJ @MSG). today was his first witness of a win and he is over the moon. (if I post pix, you'll see the good luck voodoo glasses he wore)
I did get into my friend's box above the army, but since my main contact wasn't actually there I decided to leave my JB opponent non-victory meter banner in the car. (I actually remembered it was in the car about halfway to the dome but at that point I used the preceding reason not to go back and get it). When I told the old timers in the box about it, one almost beat me with a broom for not bringing it in. next year...
we got there early. donated $5 for a towel (awesome job on the $233K+ raised), my kid went 6/8 and won a few t-shirts from the B foundation, we saw the cheerleaders and dancers warm up, danced with Otto and got the oblig pic, pic with the trophy, 1st trough experience, got a free poster, etc. we went to watch the team in early shootaround. the boy wanted to see his new fave Lydon IRL. he also is fascinated by how tall Chuckwu is. "Almost as tall as Porzingis dad? Wow!"
Since we were down there, I talked myself into the "forbidden zone" (lol) b/c I know one of the keepers of the clock. Z is into how the clock works, prob because of sentences like "you're going to sleep after the first half" While in the front row, I looked around for a (I'm going to be in trouble b/c I cant think of the correct word but its somewhere around matronly or stately or impressive or...) woman and I saw 2 who may have fit the bill. I asked if either was you know who, but neither was. Oh well, next year...
sloppy game from both sides. our perim D was awesome. g was on fire and went out like a champ. coondawg not so much. a 12 year old in my row kept asking why DC2 was playing so much. same kid said "get down on your knees ref!! you're blowing the game!!!"
speaking of blowing, always the best way to exit the Dome. this time with a well earned victory and the knowledge that I could indeed continue to bring my kid to games.
afterwards went out to Grimaldi's. the whole back of the restaurant were cadets. we talked with them a bit about LAX and the game tomorrow. did not food poison them. when asked if we could go to see SU Lax play army tomorrow, I had to say no. we have to get home, you have school and daddy has work. he asked "next year?"
just got home from seeing some of the old Faegan's gang from long ago. I could really use some chocolate but I dont think there's any here. LOL if you are still reading all this. The crowd gave nice cheers for the seniors, esp when JB pulled g and Cooney at the end. very nice touch, despite all the hard BS fouls going on. What was up with that?
congratulations again to the team for turning it around this season. for all the seniors from the cheerleaders, mascots, team aides, and especially Cooney and g. And yes, even Christian White, even though he will be a and go have another senior day somewhere else next year.
