Needs to be super brief...

Thought Gillon was great. He is getting a lot smarter penetrating inside now. Makes sure he draws contact, doesn't try those crazy off balance shots to try and not get it blocked. Can't believe NC State kept going under the double post screens, leaving Gillon and others wide open all game long.

Also can't believe NC State didn't foul TRob down the stretch when they needed stops.

Thought Frank Howard's awful defense late in the first half was a key towards allowing NC State back in the game. Can't believe he just waved at Smith in the final seconds. All he needed to do was delay him 2 seconds. Not an accident we got a couple of 30 second shot clock calls in the brief time he was in. It is bad enough to have to play 4 on 5 with TRob in the Twilight Zone. 3 on 5 just is impossible.

Continue to be impressed by White's improvement on offense. He is getting much better getting to the rim and his defense, while not good, is noticeably better than earlier in the season.

This team had no business winning this game. They had one player they needed to stop, one player they needed to take out of the game by tilting the zone towards him. And they failed. Completely. Worst defensive performance by a Syracuse team in many years.

Thought the play of the game, other than the game tieing 3, was late in the game, when TL had the ball in the paint. Had it knocked loose and an NC State player got it and when in for a layup (I believe that would have given them the lead). TL never gave up on the play, hustled his butt off and got a block to save 2 points.

Amazing performance by Gillon. Really nice game by White. Lydon is getting doubled now every time he touches the ball inside 15 feet but still got his share of points and big plays.

Battle looks like he is getting worn down a bit. They are playing him physical. NC State did a good job not letting him penetrate much and it appears he might have lost confidence in his outside shot (he has had a remarkable number of in and out 3s in the last few games, hasn't he?). Hope he rebounds from this next game.

Thought TT did okay. His defense is starting to show signs of improvement but is still really suspect. Good to see him getting some blocks and being more of a presence inside. He can pass and shoot and we need that on this team.

Weird game. Both teams took almost 50% of their shots from the 3 point circle. Our bigs didn't get many rebounds but there weren't that many available, and many that were bounced out long. Which is part of the reason little Smith had 11 of them. That kid is impressive. Hope it was the last time he ever plays against Syracuse.
