I predicted they would win 62-24 and have 350 yards rushing, pretty close on both. I do not see the RB's/OL or the WR making as much as an impact as I wanted to see. Regarding the OL and RB...I'm hoping WMU was better than I thought on D, they might just be which would make me dead wrong which I also would be quite happy to be. ED being the main rushing guy is not a recipe for him to last or the team if they can not get the RB's to get near 5 per carry...it just is not sustainable. I like Strickland and Neal, solid but they need the OL to open holes and to add to that, I didn't really see the good protection for ED that is oh so needed for this current group of WR's to get open other than Custis and maybe Pierce. The D gave up over 600 yards and again, hoping that was because WMU was good and not because the D was that bad. SU plays in the ACC as we all know...there are a lot of good teams that have talent and I'm guessing more than WMU. The DL did not penetrate the WMU OL like I thought they would or should, and again, the ACC schedule isn't going to be easier. The D played solid at times but it is a 60 minute game and the amount of points/yards/big plays they gave up are not what bowl teams do. They can not handle 3 or 4 and outs from the SU offense. Again...I WANT to be wrong on this and it was a lot of points and a very good win away from home plus on grass as well. All good things. I am hoping that what I saw on Friday night point wise continues but outside of Wagner and UConn I don't think it will unless their is a lot of improvement from what I wrote above. Plus to add...the big pile short yardage thing won't work in the ACC and SU needs the WR's to help score from close which again, other than Custis I don't see it so they will continue to go with the power package and it will struggle. This power package forces ED to run the ball and we all know he will lower his shoulder or dive to score. That is not conducive to him staying healthy which is very much needed. Is it possible Babers has other players waiting in the wings ready to explode on O and D? I hope so. I agree with you it was a nice away win and just because their have been "upset" home wins in 5 out of 9 seasons doesn't mean they get one in 2018. Love to see it, especially FSU, but I don't see that as a win unless SU can run the ball with their RB's effectively and the SU D can cover and not let get behind the fast FSU WR's and their terrific RB. I am going by what I saw and yes a small sample study and I'll be in the Dome Saturday yelling my head off when Wagner is on O.
