Hughes also mostly hung out on the perimeter and showed no interest posting up the small, untalented guards who covered him.

The zone was the worst I have seen it in 10 years.  No discipline, players constantly out of position, players constantly getting out hustled by their UConn counterparts.  Rebounding was a joke.  The Huskies have one of the shortest, skinniest and untalented front courts in D1 and they dominated the boards.

Props to Hurley, who had UConn playing hard OL game long.  Even with all that, SU was in position to win late, as UConn was forced to take 30 foot set shots over and over, and either made the shot or got a crazy rebound to keep possession.  The UConn kids made a bunch of long range bombs to ice it.  Credit to them.

Easy to blame this loss on not having Frank, but they didn’t need him to beat this team.  A bunch of veterans played soft, scared and/or stupid.  That shouldn’t happen.  Hope the team uses this game as a laerning experience.  And I hope Frank returns soon.

We need to shore up the defense and run effective half court offense.  Soon.
