When you lose a half you then need to revevaluate said game plan and you have the technology now in front of you what they're presenting (pictures, etc.). Coaches then have time to put their collective heads together in the halftime (during the game your mostly caught up with individual responsibilities) and they can make their adjustments. I can tell you some adjustments do occur on a micro scale in game but it always seems to take after halftime to do it wholesale macro.
