Wow what a year for Syracuse football. It started off with one of the worst performances in our storied programs history and ended last night with a Victory in the Holiday bowl, a ten-win season on National TV and Kyle setting the all-time passing record for the ACC., all in 12 short months.

Like many of us on this great community I have been watching Syracuse play football since the 60s as a young boy. We have been through great and bad times. Some amazing stretches led by Mac and P and some horrible times which ill call the Gerg period.

Now we have Fran, and his culture based on DART. 10 wins and by all accounts a culture that is already changed to the trajectory of the program. My question is what is next? How does Fran and our small private University navigate and thrive in the Wild West of college football. My answer is that we are going to do extremely well. What Fran is offering is going to attract and retain enough good players for Syracuse to compete. We are never going to have the most NIL and we are never going to have the best facilities. But as DART grows and Fran continues to walk the walk what we will have is a culture that is somewhat in line with what the academies have only with much better athletes. Family, love, brotherhood are preached by about every program on the planet. Truth be told it is rare. With Fran it is genuine, it is who he is not what he says. He is the real deal and the kids, and their families know it. Fran is special and because of him and if we as fans and the administration support him, we are going to remain competitive and relevant.

Syracuse University Football is back. Not on its way back but BACK and we are going to remain strong as long as Fran is our coach.

Sure, next year is going to be tough. Most likely a step back in wins. But if we look beyond the wins and loses i believe that we are going to see the team improve overall. Depth will improve along with the athleticism. size, and strength of our players. Fran and his staff will improve as coaches, in short, we are going to be in position to hang with the big boys. To remain competitive in November. To be a threat to beat every team we play.

To be what Syracuse University Football is meant to be. An Eastern football power.

It's good to be back. the future is bright.

Go Orange!

I hope you are correct. I see some very rough sea's next year unless a lot of talent is brought in on defense through the portal.

I do as well. We might have the toughest schedule in all of college football next year. I would sign up for 7 wins today. Still, I think that the program trajectory is going to remain strong.

Besides being ultra competitive, Cuse lifers and bringing the school and National Championship ;)
Good call!!! It's just that they have a different approach. Jim was more hands off. Both great recruiters for sure. I guess I stand corrected. Thank you

I share the same optimism. However, I'm a bit nervous. We have an offense that is predicated on a QB who must make good/quick pre-snap decisions. That's not easy to find. Our DC and special teams coordinator have a lot room for improvement as noted on this board.

Finally, this non-conference schedule should never have been approved for next season. Play more non-con cupcakes.

It appears our ST coach is gone, one of the off season issues “to do” that appears to be remedied fairly quickly

Now let’s see who the replacement is

Incredible year all around. What a great group on this team. I love the culture being set and think it will be good in the long term. My concern next year is we literally struck gold with McCord and a deep, talented group of skill players...I don't see that next year and the schedule in 2025 is absolutely brutal. We will enjoy this one and thing the standard is being set (10 wins again next year is going to be very tough -- long term much better place).

I’m looking at next year a different way. Everyone and their mother knows this is a gauntlet of a schedule. Lots of TV exposure and marquee games. Even games that previously looked unimportant (ie NC) are now relevant

The key here is getting enough players to compete every week. If we can hang tough with all these teams, we are going to get a ton of respect. That’s huge for the longer term trajectory of the program

I think that’s why McCord is interested is coming back. He wants the challenge. If we get a couple wins like we did against Miami, that will elevate his status even more

If Kyle comes back we can play with every team next year. Depth has to be built as this is the toughest on paper schedule I have ever seen SU face. 7 -5 would be fantastic.

The thing about next year’s schedule is nothing is guaranteed. Remember that everyone said that this year’s schedule was one of the EASIEST. That turned out to be incorrect. I believe in the coach and the program that he’s building and that is a blessing after going through the prior regime. Let the chips fall where they may.

I don't think Coach Fran is thinking like we are about next years tough schedule. He is thinking how do we start the season with a win over Tenn. What do I need to do with the players I have. He will be up for the challenge.
Spot on. Also thank you for posting pictures of your trip. Looks like you had a great time.

Well said. You never know. SMU has a lot of turnover again. Maybe the new guys don't mix so well (a la FSU). Miami ain't invincible. Cristobal gives away at least 1 game every year. Klubnick makes too many bad decisions. ND was a 28-point fave to NIU. None of our home games are unwinnable.

I'm realistic but we got some fight. We'll compete.

NOBODY said easiest. This schedule was definitely easier than the last three, mainly from a physical toll perspective.

There weren’t many lay ups, but there weren’t many(any?) top end teams either, a bunch of decent peer teams with better offenses than defenses. There wasn’t a gaunlet that would grind the team up this year.

The best team SU played was Miami, but they were a great offense with a soft as charmin defense. And it was the last game.
