Last Saturday I planned and hosted a tailgate for the San Jose St vs UTSA FB game for about 35 folks. I was able to buy 8 packages of Snappy Grillers while up near Dallas and bring them back.

Anyways I got word out to my group I had some special hot dogs from Syracuse and they were nothing like anything they have had before. I was met with some skeptical nods as most Texans think everything is better from Texas.

Bottomline: All of them were quickly eaten after the first few eaten were raved about...of course several people didn't want to eat a white hot dog at first until I said "trust me". The funniest part was two cops on bike patrol that came by. We offered each of them one. They couldn't believe how good they were. Next thing I know I had other cops showing up looking for these NY White Hot Dogs. A wife of one my coworkers is a native German, and she said she hadn't had anything this good before outside Germany. They reminded her of a german sausage. Regardless to say the next time I visit my son at Pilot Training in Wichita Falls I'm expected to bring back Snappy Grillers for everyone at the tailgate.

They are all hopeful they make them to the HEB Supermarkets in San Antonio soon. I have little doubt they'll be successful.

Good news. There's been a couple of news reports that Hoffmann's will be trying to make thier dogs a national brand(ballpark, oscar myers, etc), so they may be getting closer to you soon. I have already seen some billbords in Rochester for them. Bad news. I still prefer Zwegliers "pop" opens. Must be a rochester thing.

I know a lot of you guys are ardent fans but I'm a big fan of Hebrew National. To me, that's a real beefdog. Plus they answer to a higher authority.

I'm a Syracuse guy and think Hoffman makes quality dogs..and coneys, but Zwegliers are right up there. They're good.

Headed to Rochester next week for the Boss and will have to try a Zwegliers as I don't think I've ever had one.

Hoffman's man myself but I also like Glazers from the north country.

I had weisswurst the morning after going to Oktoberfest. Quite the hangover cure.

Hoping they get them here in Houston, too.

To hell with all of them! Liehs and Steigerwald's chicken wing brats are the best--their hot AND orange. Need I say more?

Just make sure you get the "pop opens" they sell them in packages of whites too.

Hebrew National do not plump when you cook 'em. Thus, not much fat in there. Fat = Flavor. I'll give you that they are salty, though.

I kid you not, knowing Hebrew National claims to answer to a higher authority has influenced my hot dog purchase decision on more than one occasion.
