Naheem McLeod transferring to Florida A&M

I totally understand why he's doing this.

Seems like it would be "better" for both parties if he could get that 5th year here. Center depth, and we have a need.

When he had a bunch of DNPs early in the season, I thought he was going to redshirt to save a season of eligibility. Only got to play one full season in 4 years. Had about a half season each in the other 3 years.

He would be the ideal guy. If healthy, McLeod is an absolutely elite rim protector, and at 250, he’s far and away the most equipped to handle the occasional opposing teams with big physical centers.

I don’t run we ever saw McLeod healthy. A healthy McLeod is a perfect pairing with Kyle, pushing Souare to reserve.

Additionally McLeod’s best skill is being very tall, and George is excellent at throwing the lob to tall guys…

Out of every guy on last years team with or without expiring eligibility, I think McLeod is the guy I’d most want back. Obviously, not counting Starling and Freeman who are already back.

EDIT: I guess I’m still a Highlander Stan…

Armando Bacot won the inaugural “Ronnie Highsmith” award for the oldest player in College Basketball. Don’t think anyone will actually beat Ronnie, though.

I swear to God I thought Greg Oden of Ohio State was about 35 years old.
His knees gave him away.

IIRC, Ronnie Highsmith came out of the military. He joined the Army right out of HS. When his active duty was up in 1984, GTown recruited him, so he was 23 when he enrolled at GTown. Dude was a track athlete in HS, but played hoops while in the Army. He was 27 or 28 when he graduated from GTown after 4 years in hoops. Not surprisingly, he suffered from knee issues his entire career at GTown. We used to call him an old guy back then. Of course I was in MS/HS when he played.

Yeah, Ronnie Highsmith was one in a series of "very bad men" that Thompson recruited. Tough guys who wouldn't back down.

How old was Ed Spriggs, the mailman?
