I agree but it seems like we have a 5-7 out of 10 qb thing going here and out of the 7 we'll get an athletic guy who can't pass that well or a guy that has a strong arm but can't make soft throws or he can't move that well. The grass being greener doesn't always work...we need a good qb that doesn't give other teams chances to win and can make a play with his arm or feet. I'm sorry OPA but just being an athletic qb isn't good enough for me, I'm sick of settling.
His biggest problem Saturday was not being able to hold onto the ball. That 21 yard loss on an inexcusable fumble cost us points.
Overall, he is a serviceable college QB. He can make 80% of the throws required of him and he is very good on deep slant routes, but the 20% of throws that he struggles with are the ones that win games in college - deep balls and short end-zone throws requiring touch.
I have no clue if we have anyone else with a feel for the ball in the red zone because we haven't seen any other QB in the last 3 seasons. Even when McNabb was here, the backups got some reps because we blew people out. I wouldn't mind seeing Loeb get a start this Friday. He can't do any worse than losing, right? At some point, you have to try something to get this thing untracked.I'm not a big fan of quarterback-by-committee, but considering Ryan's lack of touch and poor accuracy on the deep ball, maybe this team would have been better served by developing a situational QB. On the other hand, do we even have a guy with a good feel for the ball in the Red zone? How about a reliable, accurate long ball?
I suspect we just haven't recruited better than Nassib to this point and that is part of my increasing frustration with HCDM.
A more athletic QB would make a difference in this team.
True. Had DM recruited and developed a good dual-threat QB we'd be a lot better. Of course when you've been looking for that guy since '99, as you point out, it kind of renders that point meaningless.
And, of course, it's probably worth pointing out that a good offensive line and/or special teams described any way other than putrid would also have us much happier with our record these days.

I generally agree with this to a large extent, but I think it's worth pointing out that there is another way to finish off drives -- a good OL and a strong running game. I'm not saying I dislike the move to this offense or that I question why Nassib is throwing the ball, per se, but finishing drives inside the 5 or 10 is much easier when you trust your OL. We don't, for understandable reasons.
