You said it about yourself, I did not call you that name, but I agree with you. As Syracuse fans how would you describe Hackett's offense? His first offense in the pros was built the same way it was successful in Syracuse: up-tempo. However, he is on QB (Kolb, Manual, Lewis, Tuel, Orton) #5 in 1 1/2 seasons. The QB forced upon him to start season two couldn't handle the tempo so he was forced to slow it down. Is he just supposed to re-teach the whole offense with Orton in the middle of the season? Maybe he can in during the bye, but it is unlikely. Besides having to prepare 5 different QBs during this time, he is also dealing with a sieve of an OL. With a questionable QB and their best players being RBs, they rely on the run game to be successful and set up the pass. Since Orton has shown an ability to make plays, they are throwing it much more, but Orton was still getting killed with sacks and turnovers. If they completely abandon the running game, allowing teams to just tee-off on the QB, they won't have a passing game either. The man isn't perfect and at times may be conservative. But I think the head coach, score and personnel may dictate that more than he would like.
