Just got back from an afternoon at the National Sports Collectors Convention in Baltimore. If any of you read Bill Simmons, hes does a report from it every year.
Saw some incredible sports artifacts today, such as the trunks that Muhammad Ali wore in the Thrilla in Manila, and a 1927 game-used bat of Babe Ruth which had a sticker price of $355K (actually less than I would have guessed).
I would say about 98% of the memorabilia was pro sports oriented - I would have preferred a little more college. I searched hard for Syracuse stuff but really came up empty.
I got to see the following people in the flesh... Pete Rose, Johnny Bench, Bob Griese, Ivan Rodriguez, Joe Morgan, Tommy LaSorda, Phil Niekro, Robin Yount, Goose Gossage, and... Mike Tyson.
