This is the weirdest thing I've seen umpires do in a game. Michael Morse of the Nats is up in the first inning with the bases loaded and hits a ball to the wall. Initial ruling is that the ball hit the fence and was in play. The runners didn't run and Morse ran down the runner before him at second and had to retreat back to first where he was tagged out.
After being tagged out the umpires review the play and determine that it was a home run. So rather than just crediting the four runs they make all the runners return to their bases with Morse returning to the batters box and they force them to circle the bases.
Is this goofy or what?
