What’s Really Wrong With the Boston Celtics? "These days, Irving plays lackadaisical defense, and unfocused offense. Sources around the team told me that Irving’s persona has changed, too: He’s become disengaged and detached from those around the team. There is talk that Irving’s friendships on the team start and end with Tatum, with whom he shares an agent. Two sources peg Irving’s change in demeanor to early February, around the time he was asked about the possibility of joining the New York Knicks next season." (h/t to r/nnyknicks for this) At this point, if I were Danny, I'd go all in on the young guys and, if I could confirm that Hayward is tracking to be fully back by early next year (meaning near 100%), I'd let Kyrie walk. There are enough stats about the team's performance with Kyrie not playing in games versus when he suits up (not talking when he's on/off the floor in a game where he's playing) that I think it's addition by subtraction. If Hayward has a PG-like recovery (I don't think he'd be in the MVP race or anything), that team is stacked with arguably the best coach in the East.
