Around 6th grade I decide to try contacts. The place we went to wouldn't put them in for you, they made you put them in yourself. I had major hangups about touching my eye. Spent hours trying to get them in and couldn't do it.

You know what didn't help? The little area where they had mirrors and stuff to put your contacts in also had posters all over of eyes that got crazy, freaky diseases from people not cleaning their contact lenses.

I have major issues with seeing messed up faces, so those eyeballs did not encourage me. I gave up, went back to glasses, and have never tried contacts since.

As for sports, I just wear my glasses when I play basketball. Football I'd either wear a really cheap pair under my helmet (looked hilarious), or basically played blind.
