This year I will again be computing the top 25 NBA players in terms of total “Net Points”, (points + rebounds + assists + steals + blocks – missed field goals – missed free throws- turnovers –fouls committed) and breaking down their stats per 48 minutes, (since that’s the length of an NBA game). I’ll also compute their “Offensive Efficiency”, (points minus missed field goals and free throws), and “Floor Game” (Net Points minus Offensive Efficiency). The players are ranked by total Net Points because a player with a superior rate who missed games had no impact on those games. A player with a less productive rate who played in those games did have an impact on them. I’ll also keep track of how former Syracuse players are doing. I’ll update them each month.

Glossary: TNP = Total net Points, M = minutes per game, Per 48 minutes: P = points, R = rebounds A= assists, S = steals, B = blocks, MFG = missed field goals, MFT = missed free throws, TO = turnovers, PF = personal fouls, NP = Net Points, OE = Offensive Efficiency, FG = Floor Game

Comments: The Greek Freak looks like the League MVP to me: Milwaukee’s got the best record in the league and he’s having the best season. James Harden scores more but also missed far more shots, turns the ball over more and it’s the rebounding force Giannis is. Anthony Davis would be very close if the Pelicans were playing him full-time but they don’t have the Buck’s win-loss record, in part because they aren’t playing Davis full time. I’m assuming that Nikola Vučević and Nikola Jokić are two different people.

Former SU players:

Comments: Carmelo is still on vacation. Michael Carter-Williams, (what happened to his career?) and Malachi Richardson never played in a single February game. Oklahoma City, Houston, Denver and Toronto are all locks for the playoffs but Jerami Grant is the only one of the former SU players on those teams who plays much and is thus our best hope to get an SU guy in the finals for the first time in 39 years, although I wouldn’t hold my breath.
