ESPN just loves pumping Lebron and hating on the Raptors championship. Listening to their show with SAS and some Max Dude (this morning when they talked about Kawhi vs Lebron from yesterday. The topic comes up about whether the Raptors win the 2019 championship if Lebron stays in the East. He says that he would have made the finals in Cleveland (point A) and that they would have then won the title because Kevin Durant and Kyle Thompson were injured (point B) Point A - The Cleveland Cavs win the East title last year with Lebron. The Cleveland team was not good at all in 2018. They made the finals, and got curb stomped. They got by the Raptors in 2018, because Demar Derozan is a headcase during the playoffs and the Raptors needed change,. They barely got by a Celtics team in the ECF that was still really young and had injuries to overcome. Do they not realize that Kawhi was not on the 2018 Raptors... right I forgot since Lebron won on Sunday, it means he is better than Kahwi. It's not only disrespectful to the 2019 Raptors, but to a great 2019 Milwaukee Bucks teams, and a very good 2019 76ers team. I really doubt that the 2019 Cavaliers with Lebron stand a chance against any of those teams. The East strengthened quite a bit between 2018 and 2019. Plus the Cavs would have been worse than they were in 2018. Point B - The Cleveland Cavaliers would have won the title because Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson were injured. This is another point meant to diminish the Raptors. Yes, if Durant had not been injured the Raptors are very, very likely to have lost in the finals. But you don't get to say "And Klay Thompson". Klay Thompson played into the 4th quarter in 5 games, and the Raptors won 3 of them. The Warriors were also 1-2 in full games played by Klay Thompson (and that 1 game was won because Durant was a stud for about 15 minutes)
