Well another home season in the books. Here's my unsolicited write-up on the Kings record breaking season (16 years and no playoffs!!!). We made it a majority of home games this year; a lot of bad losses, weak attendance, terrible coaching/rotations but it was still worth the experience. Last night's finale against the Pelicans had good energy - free shirt giveaway filled up a lot of seats and there were some characters around me. Directly behind me was a teenager, probably 16 or 17 who announced play-by-play the entire game (not on a phone for likes, just to himself and anyone that would listen). "McCollum dribbles into the lane, passes it out to Ingram, swings it to Herb Jones in the corner and he drains it! Bottom of the net and the Pelicans extend their lead!" He knew every player on both sides and announced stat lines and runs. It was ridiculous. It was top 3 experience of the year...which is also kind of sad. My other top 2: 1. Chimezie Metu buzzer beater against Dallas. 2. Denver Nuggets game after the all-star break. On to the team - what a mess. With the Haliburton trade the window has been shortened to the next 2 years. Fox and Sabonis have to find a way to play at an all-star level and the team needs to add a consistent 3 point threat. As for the rest of the team - Davion Mitchell has come into his own the last 2 weeks, he had a Kings rookie record 17 assists last night, not confident that it will work with him and Fox together but that's all there is. Harrison Barnes can be shipped out as far as I'm concerned. He was great early on but faded down the stretch, just like last year. He doesn't seem to be a vocal leader which is what you want from a veteran starter that doesn't fit into the timeline. DiVincenzo can walk as well, he hasn't impressed me much but I'll be surprised if he isn't re-signed. Richaun Holmes can go - he has a pending domestic violence charge... Damian Jones has shown some flashes so I would keep him. Terence Davis can stick around and the rest of the roster can go. Hopefully Kings get lucky in the lottery and move into the top 4. Biggest need is SF/wing type player. The new GM has hit on the last 2 drafts with Haliburton and Mitchell but doesn't deserve that much credit as both picks were simply BPA. That said, Vlade did not follow the BPA formula and that's how we got in the whole Bagley mess. Baby steps.
