Hell I think 265 would be a great start. I would say even last year he was 20 pounds over that. He's a big guy for sure and the long term look ahead is a HUGE concern. They could let Zion play next year on his current contract and see where it goes. He would be a RFA after next year and they could match any offer I believe and that would put the responsibility on him to show up in shape and healthy. Hell put the weight requirements right in the freaking contract. He could take the qualifying offer as well after next season and then be FA in 2 years. Or you extend him with an Embid type rookie extension. Having made the playoffs and showing at least a pulse on the floor should help the Pelicans case. I do agree Zion hasn't really committed to the off court choices that he would need to make to have a long term career in the NBA but he is only 21 and with a broken foot I think some weight gain for a guy like him was certainly not unexpected. Zion is never going to be slim good body though nor was Charles Barkley but he did lose a lot of weight early part of his career But hey if they could get a great deal for him in June then you certainly have to look at it. I do think the Pels are only interested in having players, coaches etc who want to be there at this point. Probably why if you look at their roster they have drafted and acquired a roster with significant southern roots and a couple foreign players. A guy like Alavarado who is from NY has embraced the City and they have loved him back Dude was showing up at mardi gras parades on the regular.
