NC State Post Game

Eddie is going to be associated with this crappy team and probably won't be remembered with much fondness, but if he was on one of our semi-decent teams I think we'd view his performance this season a lot more favorably.

Yeah the defense isn't great but the scoring, rebounding and playmaking have been respectable. The rebounding in particular has been strong.
eddie could easily be a piece on a tourney team. in fact, he has been his entire career...

but the thing that drives me from being a full fledged fan of his is how he literally turns away from opponents about to score near the hoop on defense...he does it A LOT

Lampkin genuinely dominated tonight physically, it was fun to see. We’ll take the dub & keep it moving, nice to not have to sweat it out…

P.S. can you imagine the fallout here if Syracuse went to a final 4 & came back the next year as absolute complete garbage?! The NC State precipitous fall is wild…
every year is start from scratch in the portal era FYI

We have some talent, it isn't top quarter of the ACC good, but it is decent. But, our coaching is terrible. So, improving the roster, something I am confident we can do with Alex Kline on board, won't make much of a difference.
give red top tier talent ...and we can be Bubbilicious...

Enjoyed the game.
After the harsh article yesterday which left the impression that most of our players stunk and underperformed, I was curious if that would fire them up to prove themselves or if they would just give up and lick their wounds in the corner.
Well they actually played as a team and did well.
I was especially proud of Bell who finally played hard consistent defense.
There also seemed to be real communication on the court.
I especially noticed it when JJ, Bell and Cuffe were on the court together
They had mini confabs.

There last game at home is a week from Saturday at 8 pm,
I hope more people make a real effort to show up and give these kids some decent cheers.
We may not like the finished product but these kids work hard all year to get here.
It is not their fault coaching was inadequate and the team was hit with so many injuries.
And I think this latest effort deserves a little more effort from us fans as well.
I think they didn’t work hard, and that is why they are here. Defensive effort has been sparse. JJ and Carlos almost always go under screens. The lack of close outs on many shots is troubling. The bench guys often play hard, and I think Eddie gives effort.

Yesterday I had a horrible interaction with a pledge at my fraternity. I recently have gotten a little more active as an alumni and the current president had a new pledge in my family line text me. I mentioned that I have a group text with guys I pledged with and he mentioned his dad is the same way from 20 years ago. So it hurt me deep inside that I'm older than this kid's dad.

You're always young enough to streak the quad...

My fraternity at SUNY Oswego is suspended. They were on probation for having a party and then had a lawn party 2 weeks B4 their probation ended and people posted pictures on social medial. Now suspended. So glad I went to school when I did. These kids today are really dealing with school anti-fun police these days.

I mean...

All they had to do was honor their probation period by not having a party.

They literally could have done nothing and been fine.

I think this is the most reasonable sensible take out there right now.

Do I necessarily think that Autry is the coach for Syracuse? Absolutely not. But you can not fire the coach after two seasons. The optics of that look absolutely horrible and trying to get a coach to come into that situation would be extremely tough.

Autry has this offseason to prove to ADJW why he deserves to be the coach. If Autry can not make the NCAA tournament next season he will be promptly fired as he should be.

Hope it works for Autry, I have little confidence it does, but I hope for Syracuse and my fandom that it does.
I totally agree with this post. I think it would be great if this season (and the blowouts last year) were some sort of aberration, because Red seems to genuinely be a very solid person and hard worker.

My one caveat is that I will lose my friggin' mind if we are struggling against cupcakes and play no defense again next year. I can't take another season of either of those things.

I thought that coaches would look at UConn as a messy situation after the way the Ollie tenure ended. And they did fine.

I think coaches know bad coaches when they see one and that most of these guys have some narcissism that allows them to think they'll succeed where other's have failed.
For literally every team that contemplates firing a coach "early" there are fans who claim doing so will chase away potential hires.

It literally never happens. Coaches only avoid long-time, well-known toxic environments that are likely to set them up to fail. Look at the Jets struggling to find a HC as an example.

The Pats canned Jerrod Mayo after one year and landed Mike Vrabel. I doubt he pondered the "optics" of Mayo's firing after 1 season for a millisecond.
