NCAA Loses in O'Bannon Case

Right on the heels of the committee vote of autonomy. Doesn't matter what the full NCAA membership votes now, schools can't be restrained.

Wilken still allowing NCAA to set restrictions on how much athletes can earn while in school is why this isn't that bad for NCAA.

The "don't you dare let those kids earn money on their name" crowd...U Mad?

This ruling just demonstrates what a useless, out of touch, ineffectual, impotent organization the NCAA has devolved into.

So I guess when fans criticize a college player now they (the player) are fair game? No longer just a college kid? They are getting compensated for playing (well)? This could be interesting. Remembering the boo birds for Billy Scharr. :(

Im still confused by how this all plays out. you sign for a scholie and are given a set of rules. this is saying those rules werent fair to the player? how do they determine how much a player gets from things like video game revenue? in reality once you take out cost and split profit amongst 10000 players it probably amounts to very little. the merits of the case dont make much sense to me though. the avg person who works for IBM cant go out and sell themselves as an IBM employee to make money off that, why do NCAA players think they should be able too? just because one has a better selling market doesnt make it different.
