Love that they used the word "kerfuffle" -- is Bud now working for the NCAA?

I had never heard that word before, and I laughed at it.

I like bringing back jersey number 0. Seems odd that was ever outlawed.

When will they limit the number of unpaid graduate assistants and “consultants” to, I don’t know, let’s say 50, so that Clemson has to cut back on their coaching staff.

That cannot happen until they limit the SEC to 100 GAs and consultants. So, pretty much, never...

Does not mean they should not put in limits.

This 2:00 rule is nice but not enforceable. It sounds more like a guideline and it wouldn’t surprise me if it becomes the football equivalent of handchecking.

Biggest thing would be letting the clock run on first downs. Still don’t understand what the issue is!

Are you referring to the time limit on replays? That is absolutely enforceable.

What are they gonna do? Publicly flog the official in the review booth if he takes too long?

If you look at the Syracuse football roster as things stand today, it looks really unusual.

Numbers 1-4 are not taken. Of course, 0 is also not taken, as well as 8 and 9. The only numbers spoken for are 5 (Elmore), 6 (Trill) and 7 (Andre Cisco). None are doubled up.

Who should get the open single digit numbers?

Sean Tucker wore 2 in HS. I bet he does at SU too. If he doesn’t, it will probably be worn by Marlowe Wax, who also wore that number in HS. Two RBs from Maryland. Both verbal to SU. Both wear 2. What are the odds? But there is also Trevor Pena, who wore 2. If he plays defense, maybe he can too. Heck. Tucker and Wax might end up on defense as well. All are fine two way athletes.

Dillon Markiewicz wore 4 in HS. I think there is a good chance he gets it again for college. Chase Atkinson also wore 4 so this number might get doubled on in 2020.

Damien Alford wore 5 in HS. If Elmore is kept on offense, Damien is going to have to change. Unless Chris is willing to move for him.
Jahad Carter wore 6 in HS. If he plays offense, he can wear it in college. Though I would not be surprised to see Trill take 1 this year. He just seems the sort of guy to wear that number.
Justin Barron wore 8 in HS. Odds are good he will wear it in college too.
Robert Hanna wore 9 in HS. Since it is open, he probably gets it in college too.

Current players on the team get 1st crack at switching numbers before the newbies choose.

And "0" is perfect for a QB or a Kicker. Or a player with twitter handle of "Agent Zero".

Somebody monitors the time and cuts off the video feed. It's not that different than what the NFL does with their time limit. It's not rocket surgery.

Sure, it's enforceable. At the 2:00 minute mark, the play stands if it hasn't been overruled.

UVa puts the number picking order up to a team vote after training camp. WR/KR Joe Reed was always #1 while he was at UVa because his teammates voted to have him pick first. Obviously there are certain limits, i.e., the OL by rule must have a number between 50 and 79.

One time (I believe under the previous regime) we did get a penalty for having two guys with the same number on the field at the same time.

Call me a traditionalist, but I think #1 should be a WR. 2 should be a WR or QB. 9 has to be a QB. 0 should be worn by no one.
