Bet manipulation is more of a concern with negative outcomes.  A bet that’s more likely to be manipulated would be something like, ‘next play is a turnover.’  In football, that still requires an uninvolved party or two or three (the defense and even your teammates) to do or not do something.  You could be the QB and decide you’re going to fumble, but you need the defense to recover it and your teammates not to.  Same with a pick.

In basketball, you could just dribble it off your foot out of bounds.  That’s much more likely but brings us back to the problem of sticking out like a sore thumb.  Those types of live bets are typically like $5, maybe $20 for a billionaire (I’m being hyperbolic, obvs).  If an account starts tossing hundreds or thousands on bets like that and winning a lot, the sportsbooks will catch on immediately.  “A lot” would be winning like 3 out of every 10.
