Golston completed 25 straight passes many of them screen passes. Bubble screens, tunnel screens and RB screens all performed to perfection. WR blocked and held the blocks. Nothing wrong with the quick game - we just don't execute well.

IMO those plays worked because our defense plays 7-8 guys in the box, and applies pressure up the middle and soft coverage on the corners. The ND OC was exploiting what we gave them on the outside and was trying to neutralize our blitzing LBs.

Also saw a bunch of holds on those plays.

That of course and they executed really well. 25 in a row and hitting runners in stride will do wonders. Calling the correct plays is only half the battle, executing in the other half. We only gt one-half done.

its hard to see our guys only get off the block one time all night on those screens and that time we had 3 guys miss the tackle. their WR made 20 good blocks we struggle to make 1-2 a game.

no pressure and soft coverage = easy pop warner pitch and catch.
If that is what you saw we saw different games. The game I saw had a mix of coverage and ND simply choose the correct play to beat it. We had as much pressure on them as they had on us. They were bigger, faster, stronger and more athletic.

All of their screens to WRs were clearly forward. WR would already be across the LOS when he caught the ball.

That's helpful.

if the WR was across the LOS then every one was an illegal play.. so i doubt thats what happened.

Ok. At the LOS. Not 5 yards behind it. Feel better?

It wasn't just the better talent (which they clearly had), it looked like a better designed play to me.

You got that right, executed way better than when we try to run them.

It was masterful. But Golson was rattled by pressure and big hits too. Those TO's were proof.
