Nebraska keeping Scott Frost

I love these "statements". Such shite-coated nonsense.

The dude has been awful there. They couldn't find a booster willing to shell out the $20 mil. That's the real statement.

Yup. When it's ten million next year and they are 3-4, he will be gone

No coach has won less with more talent in the B1G.

Nebraska doesn't play Ohio State, Michigan St or Penn St next year. A much easier schedule and a minimum 8-4 or he's gone next year (and at a reduced cost to Nebraska).

Seem to have made progress this year. Not winning enough but think their 1st 6 losses were all 1 score games with a few against top 10 teams. Still have to learn to win but they seem close to be a solid team. Getting rid of Frost would just blow things up more. And who the heck are they going to get that is a definite upgrade?

They are 10-23 in the B1G since he took over and they don't even play OSU/Mich/Penn St every year

if they sht canned one of their own after 4 seasons how attractive is the job to future coaches. Futures coaches who are good that is. I guess that job will always be as attractive as the pay being offered but man, it would give me pause if I wanted to try and build a winner in a hard to recruit place.

The program is still paying for firing a 9-3 solich (who went 58–19) AND bo pelini who went 67-27. The program deserves going down in flames.

Yeah... I wouldn't say Frost is safe just yet. I do think retaining him will pay dividends and that he's not as a far off from success as it may appear.

Unless they pull an upset they are looking at 3-9 this year(Wisconsin and Iowa left to play). Don’t think that will go over well.

They better start 5-1 or he's toast. They have a gift start.

"Has agreed to a restructured contract"=On his last strike

Likely with a substantially reduced buyout too.

He’s got next season to win, or he gone.

Yes lets fire coaches every four years, its great for long term success.

The guy is a good coach.

I know Nebraska fans aren't interested in moral victories, but the Huskers really have been competitive this year. Every single one of their losses has been by single digits. They took Oklahoma, Michigan State and Michigan deep into the fourth quarter.

As mentioned above, their schedule is manageable next year. It should be bowl game or gone for Frost in Year 5.

Coaches and how long they have been at their current school:

Look at Florida, Mississippi state , and a host of others how quickly programs are willing to move on a lot of times doesn’t work out well. I was definitely frustrated with dino at the beginning of the year but it’s very obvious he has built a good foundation for our program and I hope he continues improving and adapting because I just want our program to be stable .. we all must check ourselves if we do rip off a couple real good seasons in the future and never forget the dark ages

Think about four years, your first recruiting class is redshirt juniors. Thats also probably a class that you didn’t fully develop because more than likely you were hired at the end of the recruiting cycle. Then, assume you simply miss on recruits because of bad luck. It happens. Look at JB who is a HOFer and gets top tier talent. He misses a lot too. You could be a good coach and get canned so easily because of timing.

Programs are typically cyclical. Clemson I think will be down for the next few years unless they find the next Deshaun Watson.

There is Nick Saban and Urban Meyer and then all the rest. I rather hire a guy who is willing to change with the times and is a good representative for the university. Dino checks both boxes and I do think he is slowly building towards being a consistently winning program. I think Dino’s time will peak here in about 4 more years. If were still a borderline bowl team at that point, we should start looking for a new coach. But those who wanted Dino gone this year are out of their mind.

SI had a pretty good article on this - took opposite stance on one score games noting the had last minute scores to draw close against Illini, Minny, Purdue and Sooners and never led at all in 3 or 4 games or in the 4th quarter of others. Overpaying for a legendary alum is a career killer for an AD. If they don't win 8 games next year he better be gone.

What talent?

Just because Nebraska was good 30 years ago doesn't mean much now their recruiting is in line with the rest of the West. Coaching isn't but Martinez is hardly a pro prospect.

I agree that their schedule is easy and they should be better ditto Miami but they do not get top players anymore. Frost doesn't bring in half the talent Harbaugh does.
