I’ve added so many things to my post-game “Net Points” posts over the years that it’s become a very long post to read and a longer one to do. I’ve decided to have separate posts for the numbers for a particular game and for the cumulative season totals. It’s the later that takes most of the time and lengthens the post so much. There was too much verbiage and too many numbers.

I’m still going to figure the season totals but I’ll post them at three different stages of the season: after the pre-conference schedule, after the conference schedule and after the post season. In the meantime, I’ll go with this stream-lined version of “Net Points, etc.” after each game, with numbers and commentary only for that game. That should make it both quicker to do and more digestible.

Net Points
(points + rebounds + assists + steals + blocks minus missed field goals and free throws, turnovers and personal fouls)

John Gillon 31 in 28 minutes
Taurean Thompson 26 in 19 minutes

Tyler Lydon 13 in 26 minutes
Franklin Howard 11 in 26 minutes
Paschal Chukwu 5 in 10 minutes
Tyler Roberson 5 in 18 minutes

Team Stats:

Comments:

- John Gillon’s 31 net points are the most of the season so far and Taurean Thompson’s 26 are the second most.

- It was the 5th straight game we’ve lost the rebound battle. In those games we’ve rebounded 25%, 21%, 27%, 29% and 26% of our misses. We rebounded 44% in the first four games.

- We were 19 for 32 inside the arc, (58.4%), our first time over 50% since those first four games. It’s the sign of a strong team, which is what we thought we had at that time – and could be again.

- It’s astonishing that we scored 99 points and only two of them were fast break points.

- BU hit 16 trey but we hit 14 and a higher percentage. We had more “POP” because we out-scored them 14-2 in the Twilight Zone, mostly because of Taurean Thompson.

- We had 55 points from our bench, 20 more than in our previous 4 games combined.

- We have 125 assists in the 6 games at the carrier Dome and 27 in the three games away from it.

- - The 153 possessions made this the fastest paced game of the year.

- Our third quarter, 33-12, was out best of the season, easily.

- It’s astonishing that we scored 99 points and only two of them were fast break points.

This jumped out at me too as I read the FBP.

Also, how does this team's cumulative 3pt percentage thus far compare with past teams? Just wondering. If better or just more attempts, is this product of how basketball has changed and/or personnel, etc.?

Damn. Do you have a staff?
A labor of love, I expect. Thank you.
