Comments:
- This was the first time since the Virginia Tech game that someone other than Tyler Lydon led in net points.
- We’ve been out-rebounded four games in a row and not necessarily against teams noted for rebounding.
- The teams had 38 second chance points from 24 offensive rebounds, a combined rate of 1.58 points per O-reb, easily the highest of the season.
- A big key to winning was that while Notre Dame made 42% of their threes, Wake made only 29%. And they were well-defended. When we get out on the shooters our chances of victory improve dramatically.
- The two teams have the same number of points in (26) and out (33) of the paint.
- We complained about the officiating but we were much more likely to draw a foul on two point shots and points in the paint than Wake, (who got whistled 25 times), was.
- We got out-scored 45-56 in First and Second Chance Points. We won because we were +10 on fast breaks and +5 on free throws. (Yeah, I know that doesn’t add up but looking at the box score and Pat’s formula for FCP, that’s what I come up with. Anyway we won. )
