Comments
- The two highest NP per 40 are Jesse Edwards (+20.0) and Howard Washington (+17.9). that doesn’t make them the best players on the team but it suggests that they should be playing more. Washington is clearly better than Goodine at this point and Edwards could learn more on the job than he would get just from practice.
- As often happened, the winning team outshot the losing team badly inside the arc (56%-42%). The three point percent ages weren’t so far off (32%-29%) but a big factor was that we only got off 21 three pointers to Iowa’s 34. We are supposed to be a three point shooting team but we couldn’t get them off.
- We lost this game on shooting. POP was 18-39. We were 18-33 from the Outer Limits and 0-6 from the Twilight Zone. For the year are 144-102 in POP, 120-90 from the OL and 24-12 from the TZ when we win. When we lose its 85-102, 75-102, 10-18. Put the ball in the basket!
- The Hawkeyes scored 29 points in unsettled situations to our 18. That gap will almost always produce a victory.
- Against Okie State and Penn State were outscored those teams 48-38 in our initial sets, (first chance points), but in this game we got beat 24-43 there. When you are losing the initial sets and also the unsettled situations, you don’t have much of a chance.
